Willie Brown Sillmon

Born on November 25, 1934, in Alpine, Alabama, Mr. Willie Brown Sillmon was the cherished son of Henry Brown and Evergreen Swain Sillmon. At a young age, Willie embraced his faith and united with Kingston Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education within the nurturing halls of the Talladega County School System, attending Nottingham and R. R. Moton School. A dedicated worker, he spent many years contributing his skills to the textile and construction industries including Bemiston Mill, Wehadkee Yarn Mill, Talladega Forestry, and Labor Local 559 where he retired after 32 years to savor the fruits of his labor and share his wisdom with loved ones. Mr. Sillmon was a charismatic man known for his infectious spirit and warmth. He found great joy in entertaining those around him. Whether it was engaging in lively conversations or showing off his skills in a game of pool, he had a way of bringing light into any room. Willie's passions extended beyond entertainment; he found comfort in hunting, gardening, and, of course, driving nice cars. A devoted sports fan, he eagerly cheered for the Auburn Tigers, embodying the spirit of loyalty and excitement that sports can bring. On April 18, 2026, at the age of 91, Mr. Willie Brown Sillmon, known affectionately as "Granddaddy" to his family and friends, transitioned from this earthly life into the embrace of the heavenly realm, trading his labor for eternal rest. We find comfort knowing he is now reunited with his beloved parents, Henry Brown and Evergreen Sillmon, his son, Willie Boyd Sillmon, brothers, Elbert Swain, Melvin C. Sillmon, Roosevelt Sillmon, and David Sillmon, sisters Minnie Garrett, Vina Rivers, Bettye Williams, and Mary A. Cook, and grandson, Carlton Ashford. Mr. Sillmon leaves a legacy woven with love that will forever be cherished by all who knew him. His legacy of love and steadfast commitment to family will forever resonate through those who survive him: daughter, Beverly Sillmon Taylor; his two sons, Summer Sillmon and Frank (Taneshia) Sillmon; daughter-in-law, Clementine Sillmon. He also leaves behind a vibrant tapestry of grandchildren, including Felecia Sillmon, Willie Sillmon, Jr., Adrian Sillmon, Tonya Sillmon, Anitra Sillmon, Willie Kidd, Nikki Wilson, Amias Sillmon, Aquavia Marsett, Semone Sillmon, and Cierra Sillmon; extended family, Ronald (Tavia) Sillmon, Billy Calhoun, Josetta Calhoun, and Amy Calhoun; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who mourn his passing. Let us come together in reflection, remembrance, and celebration of a life filled with purpose, passion, and devotion. Mr. Willie Brown Sillmon will forever remain in our hearts-a beacon of light whose legacy will continue to shine for generations to come.
