Stanley Morris

Born on December 15, 1951, in Talladega, Alabama, to the union of Joe Nathan Morris and Rosa Ragland Morris, Mr. Stanley S. Morris lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to his family and community. Stanley was cherished by all who knew him, and his gentle spirit and warm smile will be deeply missed. As a youth, Stanley accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. His educational path led him to graduate from the Talladega County Training School before joining the US Army, where he served with pride before his honorable discharge. Post-military service, Stanley found comfort in the simplicity of life's pleasures, whether it be keeping the grounds of the Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind, tending to his yard with his beloved zero-turn, watching television shows, particularly westerns and racing, or enjoying the fellowship of family and friends. In the company of family and friends, cherishing the precious moments spent together, Stanley would immerse himself in joy, talking trash, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and telling stories that would have you laughing all day. These were the moments when he could truly be himself, finding peace and happiness. Despite his love for various pastimes, Stanley's heart truly belonged to his family. His family was his greatest treasures, filling his life with laughter, love, and cherished memories. The bond they shared was a testament to the depth of his love and dedication as a father. On Thursday evening, November 21, 2024, Stanley S. Morris transitioned from this earthly journey to eternal rest while in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joe Nathan and Rosa Morris, grandson, Kelvin Beavers, brothers, Kerry Morris and Rickey Morris, sisters, Ann Jones and Ella Cliff, brothers-in-law, Rickey Briskey, Lee Cliff, and Joe McGowan, and sisters-in-law, Frances Morris, Laura Beavers, Edna Faye Buckhanon, Gloria McGowan, Madgalene McGowan, and Tinnie Mae Morris. Stanley leaves to cherish his memories a beautiful and loving wife, Nora Knight Morris; two sons, Mister Tarnett S. (Othessa) Morris and George Moss; three daughters, Tameco (Anthony) Chattman, LaChina (Kendrick) Carmichael, and Tina S. Morris; five brothers, Bill (Marie) Morris, Lee Curtis (Malonese) Morris, Danny (Barbara) Morris, Terry Morris, and James Beavers; two sisters, Barbara Morris and Rosa Briskey; sisters-in-law, Brenda Morris and Katherine Shepard; brothers-in-law, Eddy Knight, Sanford James Knight, and George Earl Knight; twelve grandchildren, Jameka Spencer, QuaChina Evans, Kedrick Carmichael, Johnathan Johnson, La'Daisha Morris, Kevin Morris, Camille Morris, Alexandria Morris, Kade Moss, Jessica Watkins, Keaton Brown, and Karter Carmichael; special friend, Jamie Johnson; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his memory will forever be cherished. The memory of Stanley Morris will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him. As we gather to honor his legacy, we celebrate a life well-lived, a spirit never to be forgotten, and a man whose kindness, wisdom, and laughter touched the lives of so many.
