Shaketra Johnson

On August 30, 1979, in Talladega, Alabama, a vibrant light entered the world-Shaketra Johnson, daughter of Thuggard Morrow and Susie Johnson. With her enchanting spirit and infectious laughter, Shaketra illuminated the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Shaketra's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found comfort while attending Blueprint Church, where she nurtured her belief and community. She received her education within the Talladega City School System and subsequently sought new horizons in Denver and Aurora, Colorado, where she dedicated over a decade to public service with the City of Colorado. Ultimately returning to her beloved Alabama in 2012, Shaketra continued to impress those around her as an assembler at Kasai, showcasing her hard work and dedication. As a devoted mother to her five children-Tobias, Tommy Jr., JaQuarius, Jamya, and Takeina-Shaketra wove a tapestry of love that will endure in their hearts. Her passions were as varied as her personality; she found joy scrolling TikTok and playing Candy Crush always ensuring she was full of life and energy. Whether casting a line into the river for a quiet afternoon or trying her luck at the slots, Shaketra lived fully. Her love for family was palpable, and her talents as a hair stylist are fondly remembered by many. She was a true people person-a radiant soul whose smile could banish shadows and lift the spirits of those around her. She loved life and was grateful for every moment she had of it. Shaketra has left an impression on many and will be missed immensely by all the lives she has touch and encountered. On the morning of Saturday, June 28, 2025, Shaketra departed this earthly journey embraced by the love of her family and welcomed into the arms of God joining her father, Thuggard Morrow. Now, as we honor the remarkable legacy Shaketra leaves behind, we take a moment to reflect on the indelible mark she has made in our lives. She is survived by her loving companion of 24 years, Tommy Shears Sr.; her cherished sons, Tobias Collins, Tommy Jr., and JaQuarius; her beloved daughters, Jamya Johnson and Takeina; her grandchildren, Jesaih Clark, Khayia Collins, Kae'air Collins, and Leiani Shears; her devoted mother, Susie Johnson; siblings Lanesisa Johnson, Natassia Johnson, Byron Morrow, and Ronald Nathan Bleything; and countless nieces, nephews, family, and friends who hold her close in their hearts. As we gather to remember Shaketra, let us come together in reverence and compassion, celebrating a life that was an unmistakable gift to all of us. Though she may have taken her final bow in this world, her spirit will forever dance in our hearts, reminding us to cherish the moments we hold dear.
