In Loving Memory of Robert Louis McCargo Born on December 23, 1938, in Talladega, Alabama, Robert Louis McCargo. was the cherished son of Roy McCargo and Gladys Beavers Truss. From an early age, Robert's deep faith led him to dedicate himself to the service of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He served diligently on the trustee board, ensuring the spiritual well-being of the congregation until his health began to decline. Robert received his education in the Talladega County School System, attending Talladega County Training School, which has since become Talladega County Central High School. After completing his studies, Robert embarked on a successful career in the construction industry as a talented cement finisher. His dedication and hard work allowed him to retire and enjoy the fruits of his labor. As Robert traveled this 85-year earthly journey, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Ms. Lula Mae Cochran and to this union came the blessing of nine beautiful children, two of whom God called home at birth. Known for his warmth and hospitality, Robert had a profound love for his family and enjoyed entertaining friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunting enthusiast, finding solace and joy in nature's embrace. During his spare time, he could be found reclining and relaxing enjoying a few laughs from the Jerry Springer Show or playing a game of spades or dominoes with his family and friends. His outgoing nature and genuine personality made him a beloved figure among his community, and his impact will be forever treasured. Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through his children, Mumaco Wilson, Valerie Henderson, LaWanda (Eric) Handy, Teresa McElderry, and Christie Lawrence; his brother, Leo Truss; sisters, Joyce (Henry) Elston, Brenda Hall, Marilyn Cameron, and Vanessa (Kenneth) Reed. Robert's memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren, Tanganekio Barclay, Kevin Wilson, Maurice Henderson, Leon McCargo, Cassundra Wilson, Sha-La Edwards, Demetrius Tuck, Erica Dockery, Domonikia Tuck, Latasha Jones, Justin McCargo, Bria Wilson, Anthony McCargo, Amanda McCargo, Demetrius Handy, and Shanya Lawrence; friends, San Draper and West Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends. Robert Louis McCargo, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on December 31, 2023, at the age of 85 while in the care of Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. Though he leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, Robert is now reunited with his parents, Roy McCargo and Gladys Beavers Truss, his children Michael Louis McCargo, Robert Anthony McCargo, and Loretta Edwards, as well as his grandchildren, Brian Cornelius Wilson and Sabrina Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Green, who will now greet him in eternity. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, let us remember the life and remarkable spirit of Robert Louis McCargo. May his kind soul find eternal peace and his memory forever be a guiding light in our lives. Peace be with you, Robert.
