Phyllis Beck

On December 10, 1956 in Talladega, Alabama, a beautiful and sweet bubbly baby girl named Phyllis M. Curry was born to the parentage of William Sam Twyman and Emma Lou Curry Hutchinson. Phyllis accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She later began attending Morning Star and various other churches, but with her faith and trust in the Lord, she later joined Faith Temple Ministries, which is where she served faithfully until her demise. Phyllis received her formal education in the Talladega County School System and was a graduate of Winterboro High School. Upon completing her formal education, Phyllis began her working career at Spring Valley Plant in Clay County for 20 plus years after which she started working with Masterbrand Cabinets in Talladega. Finally, after 16 years of being a hardworking and dedicated employee with Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, Phyllis made the decision to retire and make enjoying life a priority. Shopping, going to church, gardening, sewing and spoiling her grandchildren were her passions in life. She was a soft spoken, fun-loving and kind-hearted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and aunt that was cherished immensely by her family and all who knew her. Along Phyllis's life journey, she met and married her soulmate and the love of her life, Mr. Gregory Beck and to this union they were blessed with three sons, Davian, Demetrius, and Dornelius. Although she treated everyone like family, her children and grandchildren were her most prized possession. She was a proud wife, mother and grandmother. She always loved, provided, and cared for her family without hesitance. The lovely Mrs. Phyllis M. Beck gained her heavenly wings and accepted her Master's call peacefully on Thursday evening, October 14, 2021 at the age of 64 while under the care of Citizen's Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, Alabama. Preceding Phyllis in death are her parents, William Twyman and Emma Hutchinson, son, Davian Beck, sisters, Mary Scales and Eddie Mae Ragland, brothers Larry Hutchinson, Robert Curry, and Terry Hutchinson, and niece, Melvisha Mallory. Phyllis's legacy of love and her sweet spirit will live on and forever be cherished and remembered by her devoted husband of 45 years, Mr. Gregory Beck; two sons, Demetrius (Ashley) Beck and Dornelius Dion (Terri Ann) Beck; step-son, DaMario (Whitney) Streeter; step-daughter, Tandeka (Albert) Keith; two sisters, Olivia Hawkins and Patricia Pointer; three brothers, Bruce Hutchinson, John (Martha) Curry, and Re. Isaac (Juliette) Curry; aunt, Julia Adams; sisters-in-law, Patty Curry, Wanda E. (Peter) Hughes, Victoria Johnson, and Joan B. Parks; special friend, Gwen Nurse; grandchildren, Rahmuyah, Da'Liyah, Takayla, Jayden, Caiden, Daylan, Imari, Kne'idra, Daija, Bryan, Jaquena and Taqueria; and a host of other relatives and friends.
