Dr. Patrick T. Brown

Dr. Patrick T. Brown, age 47, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on March 31, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. A native of Talladega, Alabama, he was the eldest of three children born to the late George W. Brown and Lille Ruth Brown (Street). Dr. Brown accepted Christ at a young age and answered his call to the gospel ministry at the age of 17 under the leadership of the late Bishop George Armstrong at Bethel Baptist Church in Alpine, Alabama. He is a current member of Mount Cleveland Missionary Baptist Church in Talladega, AL, where Dr. Jerry Jones serves as his pastor. Gifted as a gospel preacher, he was mentored by local ministers and encouraged to pursue education. He attended Samford University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1999 and a Master of Divinity in Crisis Counseling in 2001. He later achieved two doctorate degrees: a Doctor of Biblical Studies from the International School of Theology & College/North Carolina Extension Virginia in 2009 and a Doctor of Education from Newburg College in Newburg, Indiana, in 2015. In 2018, Dr. Brown published his first book, "The Integration of Christian and Secular Education: Leadership in the 21st Century." His second book, "Embracing Biblical Literacy," followed in 2019. In June 2019, he published a notable article titled "Envisioning the Future Exceptionally as We Send Disciples for Christ" for the National Baptist Convention Congress of Christian Education theme book, an achievement of which he was particularly proud. Dr. Brown was the current president of the International Theological College of Phenix City, AL. He was a professor and instructor at various colleges, seminaries, and within the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. convention. Dr. Brown was passionate about biblical teaching and teaching biblical literacy. His vision was "to mold the minds of God's people through the teaching and preaching of God's Holy Word." In addition to his ministry, Dr. Brown was an accomplished singer, having traveled with various quartet gospel groups in his youth. He was a lead singer for the Bright Stars of Alpine, AL. At age 20, he pastored his first church, St. Mathews Baptist Church (1998-2001) in Auburn, Alabama. His pastorate included St. John's Community Baptist Church (2001-2005) in Lanet, Alabama; Springfield Baptist Church (2005-2009) in Hogansville, Georgia; Mt. Olive Baptist Church (2009-2024) in Phenix City, Alabama; and the current pastor at Sandville Missionary Baptist Church in Eufaula, Alabama, and the founder and visionary of Bible Missionary Baptist Fellowship Church in Phenix City. Dr. Brown enjoyed barbering and was the owner and visionary of the Master Touch Barbershop in Valley, Alabama. He was also passionate about rabbit hunting and raising rabbit dogs. In 2009, Dr. Brown married NeCrystal Y. Brown. Together, they enjoyed 13 years of marriage and were blessed with a daughter, Hasannah Joi Brown, and a stepdaughter, Alexandria Rivers. Dr. Brown is survived by his daughters, Hasannah Joi Brown and Alexandria Rivers, and his special goddaughter, Iyanna Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Min-George W. Brown and Lillie R. Diamond (Street), and his sister, Sandra Wilson. Remaining family members include his sisters, Donna R. Brown, Georgia Etta Woodgett, Mary Lou (Glennie) Finnie, and Pearl Collins, all from Talladega, Alabama; his brothers: George (Aretta) Brown of Buffalo, New York; Willie Joe (Shavonne) Brown and Tracy (Lillian) Brown of Talladega, Alabama; Larry Brown of Toledo, Ohio; Devilin (Andrea) Cameron of Childersburg, Alabama; Anthony Cleveland of Sylacauga, Alabama; and Rev. Terrance L. (Dr. Qiana) Brown of Westampton, New Jersey. He is also survived by his nephew, Emanual (EMan) Brown; aunts Silva Craig and Vanessa Street; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
