Ocie Edwards

Ocie Edwards, a loving brother, uncle, and friend was born to the union of James Robert Edwards and Shirley Williams Edwards on September 6, 1960 in Talladega, Alabama. Ocie graced this world with his warm spirit and gentle nature, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Ocie accepted Christ at a young age and fostered his faith throughout his life. He received his education in the Talladega County School System, graduating from Talladega County Training School. Following his education, Ocie devoted his career to the construction industry, working at Long Foundation Drilling Company until his health began to decline. Ocie was affectionately known as a gentle giant with a heart of gold. His unconditional love for his family, friends, and bonus children was a testament to his kind spirit. Ocie embraced life with open arms, enjoying every moment and radiating joy to those around him. A man who never met a stranger, he had a remarkable ability to connect with others, enriching their lives through his warmth and friendship. Ocie Edwards departed this walk of life on the 19th day of April 2025, while in the care of UAB-St. Vincent's Hospital in Pell city, Alabama. Preceding him in death were his parents, James Robert and Shirley Ann Edwards, sister, Samantha Edwards, and brother, Randall Edwards. Ocie is lovingly remembered by his two brothers, Terry (Gina) Edwards and Warfield (Della) Edwards; his uncles, Richard (Angie) Williams and Manchester Armbrester; and his aunts, Katrene W. Chatman, Hispernola Williams, and Frankie (James) Williams. In addition, he leaves behind his bonus children, Asia Jordan, Allison Coleman Chatman, Michelle Griffin, Shauntelle Franklin, Maria Griffin and Andrea Griffin; along with his cherished bonus grandchildren, Austin Coleman, Ashlin Coleman, Cameron Chatman, Camille Chatman, Silas Jordan, Asia Jordan, Jr. and Ava Jordan. Ocie's kind heart will be missed by numerous friends and family, including Walter Dates, Monroe Jackson and Travis Cochran, as well as a host of cousins and other relatives. His legacy of love and the memories he created will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched. Ocie Edwards, a beacon of light in our lives, will be profoundly missed
