Mary Pryor

Mary Laverne James Pryor affectionally known as "Von", a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on October 10, 2023, at the age of 72. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and enduring devotion to her family. Mary was born on February 1, 1951, in Talladega, AL to the late Homer and Velma James, and her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Brandy Michelle, and granddaughter, Tatelynn James. Von accepted Christ at a young age and was an active member of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Palm Beach Co. and an entrepreneur. She attended Westside High School in Talladega Alabama. Von's life was marked by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was a pillar of strength and a source of constant support to those she held dear. Her nurturing and caring nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was an extremely generous and loving person that would help anyone in any way she could, even strangers if they knocked on her door. She cared for countless children and family throughout her life. Tatelynn James, her beloved granddaughter, brought immense joy and pride to Mary's life. Nana's eyes would light up with happiness every time she saw Tatelynn, and their special moments together created enduring memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Mary Laverne James Pryor's passing is a loss felt deeply by her family, friends and neighbors, but her memory will live on in their hearts. She will be remembered not only for her loving and caring nature but also for her unwavering commitment to the well-being of those she loved. As we say our final goodbyes, we find solace in the knowledge that Von's spirit will forever watch over her family. Her legacy of love and devotion will serve as a beacon of inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was preceded in death by four siblings John (Boo Ba) James, Charles (Bae Bae) James, Willie (Billy) James and Mattie (Mickey) Welch. She leaves to cherish in her memories: a loving and devoted daughter, Brandy Michelle (Jaswani) of Talladega, Alabama; sister, Shirley Ann (Charlie) Garrett of Talladega, Al; brothers, Homer (Yvonne) James, of Denver Colorado; Julius (Judith) James of Talladega Alabama; granddaughter, Tatelynn James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and deeply missed.
