Mary Best

Mary Best, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister was born on October 5, 1937, in Talladega, Alabama to the union of late Dallas Curry, Sr. and the late Josephine Turner Curry. Mary was a woman of grace and strength, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She derived great joy from her role as a housewife, dedicating her life to caring for her family and creating a warm and loving home. Mary found solace and deep contentment in the simple joys of life - quilting, sewing, tending to her flowers, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Throughout her life, Mary remained a faithful and devoted member of her church, Kelly Springs Missionary Baptist Church and the community. She served as an usher and held the honorary position of president of the usher board, demonstrating her commitment to selflessly assist others. Known as the "mother" of her church, Mary always extended a helping hand to those in need and found immense fulfillment in her spiritual journey. Despite not receiving a formal diploma, Mary's thirst for knowledge remained unquenchable. She valued education and encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams and aspirations. She herself was a shining example of resilience and determination. Mary's enduring love and devotion to her husband Louis Best, Sr., was a testament to the extraordinary bond they shared. Together, they navigated life's challenges hand in hand, celebrating countless milestones, joys, and even sorrows throughout their nearly 70 years of marriage. After 85 blessed years on the earthly journey, Mary peacefully passed away on September 20, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home in Talladega, Alabama. Once Mary answered the Master's call, she was reunited with her parent, Dallas and Josephine Curry, Sr., brothers, Lewis Hillard, Clarence Hillard, William Curry, Edward Curry, and Constant Turner, and sister, Barbara (Fitzgerald) Curry. Mary leaves a legacy of love and memories to forever be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Louis Best, Sr; eight sons, John Wilbert Best, Willie (Nadine) Best, Lewis (Dorothy) Best, Jr., Ricky (Everlina) Best, Leroy (Sandra) Best, Johnny (Michelle) Best, Jerry (Melody) Best, and Joseph (Vivian) Best; three daughters, Geraldine Robinson, Angela Swain, and Marilyn Best; four brothers; Dallas Curry, Jr., Jerry Curry, Elce Turner, and Robert Turner; one sister, Daisy Price; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. As we bid farewell to Mary, we celebrate a life well-lived and a remarkable legacy she leaves behind. Her unwavering faith, unconditional love, and gentle spirit will forever guide and inspire those who knew her. May Mary's soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
