Margie Jones

Ms. Margie Dean Jones (Beavers), age 86, of Talladega, AL, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord while in the comfort of her home on September 19, 2022, in Talladega, AL. Margie Dean was born September 7, 1936, in Cropwell, AL, the daughter of the late JZ and Rosia Lena Beavers. Margie is preceded in death by brothers, James Beavers, Floyd Beavers, sisters Thelma Gaines, Wilene Walker, son, Larry Jones and daughter Michelle Jones-Brand. Margie Dean Jones became a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She went on to become a member of New Philadelphia Baptist Church in Chicago, IL, where her membership remained. Margie graduated from Wendell Phillips High School in 1954, she went on to attend Jones Business School where she received certification in Business Services. Margie started her career as a salesclerk at Spiegel's Department Store, while also modeling part time. She continued her career at The Abraham Lincoln Center in Chicago, IL. she remained there as an Administrative Assistant for almost 30 years. After relocating to her birthplace and childhood home, she secured a job working for Talladega College where she held several positions: Administrative Assistance to the Dean of Academic Affairs, Student Support Services, Buildings and Grounds and Office of the President. With fifteen years of dedicated and passion for service and her love for education. Margie built lasting relationships with students, families and her colleagues that became her closest friends and in most cases family. Three of her children and two grandchildren attended Talladega College building a family legacy that made her proud. Margie retired and devoted her time to enjoying her grand and great-grandchildren. Margie was an advocate for all literacy programs. She spent several years volunteering her time at local elementary schools reading to the youth and in-character telling the story of Sojourner Truth and encouraging others to spend time in service to others. Margie enjoyed family time with card games and a good cookout, where she could cook a whole meal on a grill before you blinked an eye. She also enjoyed crafting with her grandchildren. Margie is survived by one son, Jeffrey Jones and one daughter, Robin (Leroy) White, one brother William Beavers, eleven grandchildren; Tiffany Jones, Dameon Madison, Tillis Brand, Steven Jones, Ebony Jones, Maketha Brand, Maria Jones, Aaron Jones, Justin Jones, J'nai Jones and Noah Jones. A host great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Granny was an amazing Granny to everyone, she never treated you as if you were not one of her own. She would tell you about yourself and in the same breath she would love you like family!
