Margaret Ann Smith

Margaret Ann Beasley Smith was born on April 17, 1954, in Talladega, Alabama, to the late Dean Spencer Beasley and Susie Atchinson Beasley. Margaret confessed her love for Jesus Christ and declared Him as her Lord and Savior, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost at a young age while attending Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. She later continued serving the Lord when she joined Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church and at the time of her passing, she was a faithful member of Southside Missionary Baptist Church. Margaret provided guidance and leadership where needed and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was educated in the Talladega City School System. Margaret was well known for her passion for shopping and her cleaning skills were unremarkable. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and always had a calm spirit. The wisdom she shared will forever be treasured. Along Margaret's path in life, on September 8, 1971, she met the love of her life, Reverend Johnny Ray Smith, Sr. and after three years, she knew God had sent her a wonderful soulmate, and on January 7, 1974, they were united in Holy Matrimony sharing over fifty-one lovely years together and a blessed marriage of forty-eight years. God smiled upon this union and together they raised five beautiful children. On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, Margaret transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home while in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Dean Spencer Beasley and Susie Atchinson Beasley, brothers, Larry Beasley, Billy Hutchinson, William Spencer Beasley, and Robert Lewis Beasley, son, Johnnie Ray Smith, Jr., granddaughter, ZyKuria Smith and Izaria Prosser, and great-grandson, Angel Smith. Margaret leaves to cherish and preserve her wonderful memories, a loving and devoted husband, Rev. Johnnie Ray Smith, Sr.; two loving daughters, Cynthia Denise Smith and Sanjeanetta Renea (Carnelius) Spell; two sons, James Edward Smith and Robert Lee (Christy) Smith; five brothers, Theodore Beasley, Earl Swain, Spencer Hutchinson, Tony Hutchinson, and Darren Hutchinson; four sisters, Alma Jean Linner, Laverne Beasley, Phyllis Dean Beasley, and Sherree Hutchinson; grandchildren, Marteika Keith, Amber Henderson, Alh'Jandre Smith, Jamese Blake, Cameron Smith, Jakiyah Scott, Shakiyla Smith, and RhaKiah Keith; special family friend, Kathy Spell; wonderful caretaker, Margaret Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
