Lois D Holyfield

Lois De Holyfield, a beloved mother and grandmother, was born to the late Mr. Marion Minniefield and Mrs. Alice Minniefield on May 15, 1935, in Talladega, Alabama. Lois, a woman of strong faith, confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Hobson City, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Nobles. Later in life, she relocated to Anniston, Alabama and became a member of Miracle Revival Temple under the leadership of Pastor Walter L. Carr and Lady Dorothy Jean Carr. Lois served as church mother, guiding many with her wisdom and nurturing spirit. She was a dedicated member and served faithfully until her health declined. Lois was the loving wife of the late Clifton Holyfield, and unto this union eleven children were born. She was known for her spunky, vibrant personality, big heart, and remarkable cooking and baking skills. Mrs. Holyfield had a love for children and her home always seemed to be the hang out spot for kids. A true nurturer at heart, she dedicated her life to caring for children. After her husband's untimely death, Mrs. Holyfield entered the workforce and became an employee for the HeadStart Corporation. Eventually, she resigned her position there and began a home-based daycare service. Lois was not just a caregiver by profession, she was a mother to many in the community, opening her heart and home to provide a safe space, hearty meals, laughter, and fun. She embodied grace and strength, making a difference in countless lives not just as a caregiver but as a guiding light. On Saturday, March 1, 2025, Mrs. Lois Holyfield, at the age of 89, heard the Master say, "Well done thy good and faithful servant." and entered eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Clifton Holyfield; her children, Margaret Whitfield, Walter Holyfield, and Stanley "Pnut" Holyfield; her siblings, Charles Edward Minniefield, Howard Minniefield, Horace Minniefield, John S. Minniefield, Clarence Minniefield, James Minniefield, Rosetta Minniefield, Lucille Robertson, and Georgia Ann Jones; and her Great-Great grandson, Jeremiah Holyfield. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Larry Holyfield Anniston, AL, Mary (Darrell) Johnson Arlington, TX, William "Tootsie" Holyfield Denver, Colorado, Willie Holyfield, Anniston, AL, Wanda (Charles) Henson, Pensacola, FL, Brenda Holyfield, Anniston, AL, Angela Holyfield, Hattiesburg, MS, and Caroline Austin, Anniston, AL; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Baker Heflin, AL, and Barbara Minniefield Columbus, OH; one brother, Willie Hugh (Ella) Minniefield, Lexington, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and community children. As we come together to remember Lois, let us celebrate her life, her love, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. May her spirit continue to inspire us to live generously and love wholeheartedly.
