Linda Elston

Born in Talladega, AL, on May 25, 1958, Linda was the loving daughter of proud parents William and Edwena Elston who embraced her roots and held her heritage close to her heart. A faithful member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Linda's faith guided her through life's challenges and imbued her actions with kindness and compassion. Her deep-rooted trust in God ensured that she lived a life filled with love, grace, and humility. She was educated in the Talladega County School System and graduated from Munford High School in 1976, where she made countless memories and formed lifelong friendships. Having dedicated her life to her daughter Tangela, Linda wholeheartedly embraced her role as a mother. Her love, warmth, and unwavering support were a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Linda's selflessness and compassion extended beyond her family, as she touched the lives of many others in the Munford community. She always went above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of those around her. Linda had an immense passion for cooking and took great joy in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Collecting magnets for her refrigerator and decorating cakes were among her favorite hobbies, showcasing her creative spirit and attention to detail. She had a genuine love for the Alabama Roll Tide, and her unwavering support for her favorite team knew no bounds. Linda Elston, a beloved member of the Munford community peacefully departed this world on August 23, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a loving daughter, a devoted mother, and a cherished friend. Her legacy will forever remain in our hearts. Once gaining her wings, she was reunited with her parents, William and Edwena Elston; brothers, Maurice Elston, Kenneth Elston, Michael Elston, Charles Elston, and Johnny Ray Elston; sisters, Ruby "Nell" Elston and Bessie Ball; and stepmother, Evelyn Elston. Linda will forever be remembered as a shining light in the lives of her daughter, Tangela Elston; two brothers, Lamar (Dianne) Elston and David (Wanda) Elston; two sisters, Annie R. Terrell and Cindy Richey; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Although she may be physically absent, her love and spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. As we gather to celebrate her life, let us carry on her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion, spreading her light to others in the Munford community and beyond. May her soul find eternal peace.
