Johnny Hunter

Mr. Johnny Raymond Hunter, age 86, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, hard work, and devotion to his family. Born on October 28, 1939, in Calhoun County, Alabama, he was the beloved son of the late Neal Hunter and Nettie Gay Watkins Hunter. Johnny dedicated many years of faithful service as an assembler with North American Bus Industries before retiring. He was a hardworking man who believed in providing for his family and took pride in everything he did. At a young age, he accepted Christ and united with Brunna Valley Baptist Church in Lincoln, Alabama, where his quiet faith and humble spirit reflected the values by which he lived. Johnny found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved hunting, fishing, working, watching sports, and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. A devoted "Roll Tide" fan, he enjoyed talking football with family and friends and could often be found watching his favorite westerns. Though he was a quiet and humble man, his kindness, caring heart, and gentle nature touched everyone who knew him. Above all else, Johnny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. One of the greatest blessings of Johnny's life was the love he shared with his wife, Sharon Pearson Hunter. Together they built a beautiful life and shared nearly 55 years of marriage before her passing, creating a lasting example of love, commitment, and family. Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Pearson Hunter; his parents, Neal Hunter and Nettie Gay Watkins Hunter; his grandson, Stefan Hunter, Jr.; his brothers, Willie Hunter, Ralph Hunter, Herman Hunter, and Joe Hunter; and his sisters, Luvenia Hunter and Rosie Tolbert. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving children: Kevin Hunter; Stefan Hunter, Sr.; Sharolyn Hunter (Jeffrey); and Rebecca Hunter Dobbin (Shederick). He is also survived by his brothers, Douglas Hunter (Lois) and Elbert Hunter (Carolyn); his sister, Eunice Wills; his grandchildren, Denika (Alyousha), Raven, Pierre, Denzel (Amanda),Hannah, and Hunter; ten great-grandchildren; his loving sister-in-law, Oritha Smith; special niece, Angela Pearson; two special nephews Butrum Smith and Clement Smith; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. Mr. Johnny Raymond Hunter's life was a testament to humility, perseverance, faith, and unconditional love. Though his earthly journey has ended, the values he instilled, the love he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
