John Hunley

Mr. John Edward Hunley, a cherished member of the Talladega, Alabama community, was born on December 28, 1945, to the loving union of Scott and Edith Lawler Hunley. A devoted servant of Christ from a young age, Mr. Hunley found spiritual comfort as a member of Shekinah Glory Ministries, where his faith shone brightly throughout his life. In his early years, he embarked on a fruitful career in the textile industry, contributing his talents to notable mills such as Wehadkee Cotton Mills, Crown Textiles, and Avondale Mills. His journey was marked by dedication and a remarkable work ethic that inspired those around him. In his heart, Mr. Hunley carried the love of his life, the former Augusta Jackson, whom he wed in Holy Matrimony. Together, they welcomed their beloved son, Timothy. Their familial bond blossomed even further in 1993 with the blessing of two daughters, LaTonya and Symeria, who were embraced with much love and care. The Hunley household was filled with laughter, warmth, and an abundance of cherished memories, largely due to Mr. Hunley's remarkable sense of humor and his culinary creativity-his dishes were known to stem from the depths of his imagination. He also had a saying that his friends and family will always remember him by and that saying was "I'm Fine As a Frog Feathers". On May 20, 2026, Mr. John Edward Hunley made the peaceful transition from this earthly realm to his eternal home, ready to embrace his heavenly rest. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Augusta Hunley, his parents, Scott and Edith Hunley, his son, Kevin Terry, sister, Helen Hunley, brothers, Joseph Hunley, Scott Hunley, Jr., Jerry Hunley, Benjamin Hunley, and a special daughter, Earnestine Matthews. Mr. Hunley leaves behind a beautiful tapestry woven with love and memories: his devoted son, Timothy Hunley; two bonus daughters, LaTonya Payne and Symeria Jackson; sister, Mittie Hunley Jackson; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many loving and caring nieces and nephews; and an extensive circle of other relatives, friends, and beloved members of Shekinah Glory Ministries. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and resilience will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. As we bid farewell to a loving father, a faithful friend, and a remarkable man, we take solace in the memories we share, knowing that John's spirit will forever guide us and illuminate our paths. May he rest in eternal peace.
