John Calhoun

Mr. John David Calhoun, a beloved father, brother, and friend, was born on December 21, 1944, in Talladega, Alabama, to the union of Charlie Calhoun, Sr. and Marie Lindsey Calhoun. On November 29, 2025, he transitioned from this earthly journey to eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a spirit that touched all who knew him.From an early age, Mr. Calhoun accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a cherished member of the Kingston Missionary Baptist Church. After completing his formal education, he dedicated many years of his life to the family business in the construction and masonry industry until his well-deserved retirement. A man of the outdoors, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and celebrating the beauty of wildlife. Mr. Calhoun's vibrant personality lit up every gathering-his infectious laughter, playful trash talk, and affectionate nickname "Rascal" will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A master of style, he captivated hearts not just with his fashion sense, but with his warm, caring manner.John is now reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Charlie and Marie Calhoun, Sr., as well as his brother Thomas Calhoun and sisters Annie Lou Garrett and Ruth Ella Russell. His cherished memories will be carried on by his children: John Calhoun, Johnny Calhoun, Teresa (Clem) Calhoun-Tolbert, Jennifer (Victor) Kirk, Yolanda (Lethimyle) Cleveland-Knight, Elinda Wilson, Lakesha McGregor, and Barbara Wilson. He leaves behind brothers Hubbard (Sue) Calhoun and Charlie Calhoun, Jr.; sisters Josephine Garrett and Willie Ruth Lawson; grandchildren, Reshonta Dailey (Carlos), Desmond Calhoun (Shay), Iesha Calhoun, Khya Tolbert, Jadon Tolbert, Titus Richardson-Knight, Miiyah Bey, Gabriel Saturnin, KeyShauntie Underwood, Kiara Underwood, Cami Wright, Janiayha Wilson, Journee McGregor, Emeriee McGregor; great-grandchildren, Jariyah Calhoun, Aaden Johnson, Cashton Barnes, Londynn Calhoun, Auburn Barnes, King Dailey, Levi Calhoun, Memphis Byrd, Kylah Knight, Phoenix Bey, Genesis Bey, Kynlee Underwood; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.In this time of reflection, let us celebrate the joy of his life-the laughter, the love, and the memories that will forever resonate within us.
