James M. Wilson, Sr.

Mr. James M. Wilson, Sr., a beloved father, was born on June 18, 1942, to the union of Joe Wilson and Johnnie Mae Wilson in Sylacauga, Alabama. James had a love for Christ and accept Him as his Savior at an early age. His faith led him to unite with Grace Abundant Life Ministries under the pastorage of Bishop James Wright. He received his education in the Sylacauga City School District and attended Sylacauga High School. James, affectionately known for his CB handle "Kidnapper," was a truck driver for over 40 years, dedicating himself to the road and his craft. He retired from Shoreline Transportation, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication that few could rival. Even when faced with challenges, like going to work with broken ribs, his tremendous work ethic never faltered. In 1973, James found love in his wife, Mary Wilson. They were united in marriage on December 31, 1973, and together they created a life filled with joy. He exemplified what it meant to be a provider, often going to work even with broken ribs, never allowing physical pain to keep him from his responsibilities. James was the life of the party, known for his love of dancing, especially when his favorite song, "Mary Jane", was playing. He never passed up an opportunity to talk trash while playing spades or poker. James had a big heart and his generous nature touched many lives. On Sunday, December 8, 2024, James M. Wilson, Sr. answered the master's call and entered eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wilson, sons, Reginald Kelly and Johnathan Wilson, parents, Joe and Johnnie Wilson, and siblings, Nathaniel Wilson, JoAnn Staten, and Jean Swain. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Robin (Kevin) McKinney, Anita K. (Christopher) McClin, Stephanie Robinson, R. Fitzgerald Austin, Jim Chase Wilson, Shakita Wilson, and Donta Wilson; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; siblings William E. (Johnnie) Wilson, Cora L. Howell, Rosa (Bill) Threatt, and Edna Swain Windom; and a host of other relatives and friends. As we remember James M. Wilson Sr., we hold tightly to the beautiful moments spent in his presence, the lessons learned, and the love shared. He may have left this world, but his spirit will dance on in our memories forever.
