Harold Smith

Mr. Harold Charles Smith was born on May 29, 1949, in Goodwater, Alabama, to the esteemed union of John Reynolds Smith and Sally Ann Jones Smith. Mr. Smith's journey was marked by hard work, laughter, and a deep love for family and community. Educated in the Coosa County School System, Mr. Smith graduated from Goodwater High School and spent many years as a dedicated forklift operator in the poultry industry with Tyson Foods before retiring to embrace the joys of life. Known for his infectious laugh and vibrant storytelling, he had a knack for bringing joy to everyone around him. Whether he was fishing on a serene lake, watching his favorite westerns, engaging in spirited games of horseshoes and dominoes, or cheering on the Auburn War Eagles, Mr. Smith embodied a spirit of humility and friendship. Sunday morning, August 17, 2025, Mr. Harold Charles Smith, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully transitioned from this life to eternal rest while in the comfort of his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Smith, parents, John Reynolds Smith and Sally Ann Smith, bonus son, James Derrick Marbury, brother, John Lewis Smith, sister, Georgia Ann Williams, and bonus grandson, Jessie Marbury. He cherished his family deeply, and his memory will forever be held dear by his two daughters, Coretta (Jamason) Bedford and Benitta (Bernard) Massey; two bonus daughters, Julie Marbury and Yolanda (Fredrick) Baker; three bonus sons, Willie Charles (Devona) Adair, Thomas O'Neal Marbury, and Anthony LaJames Marbury; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and Larry Smith; four sisters, Catherine Benson, Mary Smith, Shatina Smith, and Bobby Smith; brother-in-law, Arthur (Minnie) Adair; fifteen grandchildren, Alexis (Dextavious) Marbury, Michael Bedford, Jr., JaDarius (Raushau) Marbury, LaRodderick (Nia) Bedford, Anastazia Marbury, Javarious (Hailey) Bedford, Totiyuna (Michael) Bates, Jecobe (Tiffany) Marbury, Decobe (Deanne) Marbury, Jessica Marbury, Tamya Harris, Jaylon Baker, Tatiyuna Marbury, Damaija Adair, Terrell (Brianna) Heard, and LaDerrick Stamps; tweny-two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. As we remember Mr. Harold Charles Smith, let us celebrate the remarkable journey he traveled, the love he imparted, and the enduring memories that will forever bring smiles to our faces.
