Eric Taylor

Eric Taylor, Sr. a cherished brother, father, and friend, was born on December 20, 1958, in the heart of Talladega, Alabama to the union of Oscar and Cora Taylor. A proud member of the community, Eric's warm spirit and dedication to his faith were evident from a young age when he joined Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a place where he found comfort and purpose throughout his life. He loved his church family and made sure all his church duties were fulfilled. Mr. Taylor was recognized by the Rushing Springs District Congress of Christian Education for "Becoming a Transformation Leader in The 21st Century". Embracing the values of hard work and commitment, Eric graduated from Munford High School and later served valiantly in the Alabama National Guard for over 17 years before transitioning to a fulfilling career in the foundry industry as a machinist. An industrious soul, Eric found joy in his work and provided for his beloved sons, Eric Jr. and Cortney, whom he showered with love and wisdom. They often referred to their father as a smooth, KOOL, and very well-spoken man who never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. An active member of his church, Eric's contributions were countless, from his melodious voice in the male chorus to his unwavering dedication as a church trustee and member of the men's circle. His genuine demeanor and ability to connect with others made him a cherished figure within his community. Eric's love for sports, particularly his passion for the Auburn Tigers, endeared him to many and added a spark of enthusiasm to his interactions. Upon his passing on June 12, 2024, Eric was embraced by the eternal grace of the Father as he embarked on his final journey where he was reunited with his parents, Oscar and Cora Taylor and sister, Melinda Carlisle. Though Eric's physical presence may be absent, his memory lives on in the hearts of those he touched and the lives of those he encountered. In the tapestry of memories that remain, Eric leaves behind a legacy woven with love, laughter, and unwavering familial ties. His presence will forever resonate in the hearts of his beloved sons, Eric (Brandy) Taylor, Jr. and Cortney C. (Aunaneshia) Lee. grandchildren, Ariell Davidson, Xavier Taylor, and Cortlin McMillian; brother, Michael (Stella) Taylor; sisters, Patricia Jemison, Anita (Frankie) Hearn, Debra Nation, and Clarissa Curry; special niece, Eunice Chandler; special aunt, Yvonne Arnold; and a host aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. As Eric's earthly journey comes to a close, his legacy of kindness, dedication, and faithfulness remains a guiding light for those who were fortunate enough to know him. In his honor, let us carry forward his spirit of compassion and unity, remembering the profound impact he had on those around him. Rest peacefully, dear Eric, your memory will forever linger in our hearts.
