After a life well-lived, Mrs. Emily Headen Jenkins, gracefully departed this earthly realm on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on October 4, 1946, in the nurturing embrace of Talladega County, Alabama to the union of James Headen and Bernice Garrett Headen, Emily shone as a beacon of faith, love, and joy to all who had the honor of knowing her. From her early acceptance of Christ, Emily was a devoted member of Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, where she served her congregation with steadfast dedication as the Sunday School secretary and a former member of the choir. Her spirit of devotion and commitment to her faith ensured she made a lasting impact on her congregation with her generous spirit and compassionate heart. Emily's academic journey led her through the Talladega City School System, culminating in her graduation from Westside High School. She embarked on a fulfilling career as a nutritionist for the Talladega Board of Education, nurturing countless young lives through her commitment to health and well-being. Her specialty, peach cobbler, was renowned among family and friends, symbolizing her love for cooking and the joy she found in nurturing others through food. She was also known for her love of reading, her keen mind for crossword puzzles, and her unparalleled eye for fashion-always the master shopper, she filled her life with beauty and elegance. As the proud mother of two sons, Scott and Quinn, Emily cultivated a sanctuary of love and laughter in her home. Her legacy blossomed further in the glow of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her later years. With a gift for making every moment special, Emily's heartfelt hugs and thoughtful words enveloped her family in warmth and affection. Emily is survived by her loving and devoted sons, Scott (Stephanie) Headen and Quinn (Renee) Headen; daughter, Sandra Douthitt; her beloved grandchildren, Taylor N. (Brandon) Graham, Gabrielle A. Headen, Erroll Quinn Headen II, Ashley Rose Headen, Jerome Dothitt Jr., Kristylyn (Jonathan) Stevenson, and Akina Curry; her cherished great-grandchildren, Keelianna Jackson, Asher Stevenson, and Conquer Stevenson; special cousins, Rita Garrett and Carol Garrett; special friend, Ervin Swain; along with a multitude of loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Bernice Headen, and her cherished husband, Terran Jenkins. Emily's journey was, indeed, a blessing-a tapestry woven with love, kindness, and an indelible spirit that touched all. Her radiant light will continue to inspire and guide those she leaves behind. Emily Jenkins will remain forever in our hearts-her laughter, her love, and her legacy of service shining brightly as we continue to celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
