Ellis Jones

Born on October 28, 1945, in Talladega, Alabama, Ellis M. Jones was the beloved son of George Jones and Lezel Wiley Jones.From an early age, Mr. Jones demonstrated a deep faith, accepting Christ and joining Kings Chapel Church. After completing his formal education, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he earned numerous honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/1 Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/1960 Device, Combat infantryman Badge (1st Award), 1 Overseas Bar, and Sharpshooter (M-14, M-16). His service was marked by courage and dedication, earning him badges that spoke of his valor and sacrifice. The love he held for his country was rivaled only by the love he carried for his family.Mr. Jones embarked on a distinguished career as a machinist in the foundry industry, where he labored with dedication until his well-deserved retirement. Those who knew him will fondly remember his passion for reading the Bible, his love for Western films, and the warmth of his presence that brought joy to every gathering. Mr. Ellis M. Jones, transitioned peacefully from this earthly journey to eternal rest on Sunday, November 30, 2025 while in the care of Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Lezel Jones, sisters, Susie Minor, Zeola Bryant, and Vernell Curry, brothers, George Jones, Jr., Jerome Jones, and Howard Jones. On this day, we gather not only to mourn his passing but to celebrate the rich tapestry of his life. He leaves behind cherished memories with his wife, Marilyn Jones; his three sons, Christopher C. Jones, Timothy M. Jones, and Demond (Michelle) Jones. He is also survived by his brothers, Shadrach (Elena) Jones and Andrew Jones; his sisters, Lucille White, Sarah (Matthew) Pegram, Therra Wells, Belinda Devero, and Vanessa (Walter) Garrett; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends who loved him dearly.As we reflect on the vibrant life of Mr. Ellis M. Jones, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness, faith, and steadfastness. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him, a reminder of the love he shared and the lives he touched.
