Cornelius Allen

Born on August 31, 1983 to the parentage of the late Hollis Brewster and Erthel Brewster, in Talladega, Alabama was a loving son named Cornelius Demond "Cornbread" Allen. At an early age, Cornelius received Christ and united with Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Munford, Alabama. He was educated in the Calhoun County School System and was a 2002 graduate of Oxford High School. At the time of his passing, Cornelius was employed as a machinist at Bae Systems in Anniston, Alabama. Cornelius, affectionately known by many as "Cornbread" was a loving son, husband, father, and if you earned his friendship, you had a friend for life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but his wife and daughters were his top choice in life. Cornelius loved his family beyond measures, and he is already missed by his family, friends, and all the lives he has touched throughout his 40-year earthly journey. In addition to being a loving husband, Cornelius was a loyal friend who always went out of his way to support and uplift others. If you knew Cornelius, you know he was a well-known, loveable individual, with a heart of gold. He never met a stranger, and he was definitely "ONE TO KNOW AND ONE YOU WOULDN"T FORGET". Cornelius was a free spirit, very kind and generous man who enjoyed cooking, grilling and most importantly, his DOGS! During the fall he enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs, as he was an avid Bulldog fan. Cornelius transitioned from this life to a peaceful rest on the morning of September 1, 2023 while in the comfort of South Central Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his dad, Hollis Brewster, grandparents, Victoria Allen, Jessie Allen, Leola Brewster Sturkie, uncle, Anthony Allen, and his sister-in-law, Nikita Allen. Cornelius will be deeply missed by his adoring and devoted wife, Yani Tanner Allen, who was his rock and source of inspiration throughout their marriage; daughters; Azaria Allen and Cor'Niya Allen; Goddaughter, Tylearia Parker; his loving mom, Erthel Brewster; mother-in-law, Nevada Jemison; father-in-law, Fredrick Jemison; sisters-in-law; LeKisha Allen Hailes, Towonna Allen, and Randrickus Allen; brothers-in-law; Andre Jemison and Anthony Hailes; honorary siblings; Laurie Sistrunk, Tiera Toyer, Carmeshia Chatman, Maria Jones, Megan Dye, Brian Sistrunk, DeAndre Sistrunk, Derrick Sistrunk, Erskine Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Jabari Russell, Donald Dye Jr., Jeremy Clegg, and Leander Morris; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who are also left heartbroken by his untimely departure. As we mourn the loss of Cornelius, may we find solace in the memories we shared and keep his spirit alive through the love and kindness we show one another. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched. Forever remembered and loved, may Cornelius Allen's soul find eternal peace.
