Arnita Green

Mrs. Arnita Green was born on August 28, 1957 to the parentage of Thomas Fomby and Christine Flemmings Elston in Boston, Massachusetts. Arnita's life was marked by a profound love for her family and a dedication to her faith. She was a longtime member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served diligently on various committees including the kitchen committee, the matron board, and she found joy in singing in the choir. She was educated in the Talladega County School System where she attended Lincoln High School. Once joining the workforce, she became a cook in the restaurant industry for many years and was a dedicated employee at Gateway Restaurant for over seventeen years. Arnita was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who was very easy going and family oriented. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Arnita's culinary skills were unmatched, delighting her family and friends with her delicious meals. When it came to cooking, Arnita was the real chef. On Sunday evening, April 28, 2024, Arnita Green peacefully traded labor for eternal rest while in the comfort of her home surrounded by her beloved family. Once gaining her heavenly wings, she was reunited with her husband, Jerry Green, parents,Thomas Fomby and Christine Elston, daughter, Jerrica Green,brothers, Milton (Sherrion) Fomby, James Fomby, and Lyray Fomby, sisters, Betty (Louis) Kirksey and Shirley George, and brother-in-law, Joseph Mewborn. Arnita's legacy of love and memories will forever be cherished by her two daughters, Karshundra (Patrick) McCluney and Adrian (Kenny) Collins; sister, Ernestine Fomby; two bonus sons, Eric Weed and Derrick Weed; seven grandchildren, Rodrequs (Mariah) Green, Kendall collins, Savion (Tassie) Green, Emeri (Chad) Green, Kenderian Collins, Kameron Collins, and Avana Hardy; sister-in-law, Sally Fomby; brother-in-law, Richard George; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, other relatives, and friends. In this time of mourning, may we find comfort in the memories we shared with Arnita and the profound impact she made on all our lives. Her kindness, warmth, and love will remain eternally in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Arnita Green. You will be forever remembered and cherished. Order of Service
