Tyrone Johnson

On July 7, 1956, Mr. Tyrone Johnson was born to the parentage of Mrs. Rosetta Johnson and Mr. Lewis Martin Johnson who preceded him in death. On the southside of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Rosetta and Mr. Lewis created a humble yet comfortable and loving home for their five children, Dwight Jackson, Regina Webster, Bernadette Johnson, Tyrone Johnson, and Anthony Johnson. Mr. Tyrone Johnson was a prominent member and the heart of the Altgeld Gardens Community. It was in the "Gardens" where he and his brother Anthony could fully express and enjoy their love and fellowship for the sport of golf. In the mid 1970's, Tyrone would take his love for sports to a level of excellence by being accepted to a Chicago semi-pro baseball league team and also by joining the Carver High School's "Carver's Golf Club." Being a member of this club is where he was able to break the traditional narrative of what the face of golf as a culture looked like being an intercity kid from Chicago partaking in golf and being good at it. In the summer of 1993, for various reasons, Tyrone decided to relocate to be closer to his family in Anniston, Alabama where he proudly worked as the liaison of the original Calhoun County fairgrounds from 1996-1999. In the later years of Mr. Johnson's life, he would become the heart of the Wesley Park Retirement Community where he retired and lived for thirteen years. On April 7, 2026, he spent his very last moments in that same community where he was loved and adored by all who encountered him. Mr. Tyrone Johnson was a man of many words. If there was one phrase to describe him, it would be "family oriented." Mr. Johnson stood on business when it came to his family. Tyrone is survived by his oldest sister, Regina Webster; his niece, Wakina Webster; his nephews, Reginald Webster, Jr. and Jason Jackson; great-niece, Lakeisha Webster; great-nephews, Akeem Webster, Alexander Teague, Ryan Teague, and Trey Isles-Webster; great-great nieces, Serenity Jackson and Hope Webster; and a host of other family members and friends that loved him whole heartedly. Tyrone, a brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, we will miss and love you forever and always.
