Shirley Ann Jones

Mrs. Shirley Ann Jones, age 62, of Anniston, Alabama, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Shirley was born on November 18, 1963, in Anniston, Alabama, to the late Isabell Sturkie and the late Mike (Buck) Edmondson. She was educated in the Anniston City School System and later earned her GED from New World College. Shirley was united in marriage to the late Billy Jones, and together they shared many cherished memories. A woman of faith, Shirley was a devoted member of Emmanuel Temple Ministries in Anniston, Alabama. She was known for her kind heart, loving spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Shirley also had a deep love for the game of softball. An avid softball player, she enjoyed the camaraderie, competition, and friendships the sport brought into her life. Her love for the game reflected her energetic spirit, determination, and zest for life. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and the love she freely gave. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Jones; her parents, Isabell Sturkie and Mike (Buck) Edmondson; her sisters, Zenobia Curry, Ona Lunett Bethune, Louise (Tiny) Edmondson Doss, Lorene Teague Brown, and Shirley Louise Person; her brother, Rodney Sturkie Sr.; her grandparents, Vadie Collins Williams, Willie Collins, Evelyn Woodard, and Mike Edmondson Sr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her two loving sons: Ronnie Collins and Ontario Collins; fifteen sisters: Lenora Beasley, Evelyn Smith, Melinda Bell, Jacqueline Edmondson, Mary Edmondson, Vernessa (Charles) Patterson, Alice Edmondson, Evelyn (Paul) Lewis, Alberta Bell, Alesia Cypress, Alisa Marchman, Tammy Nelson, Billie (Anterio) Turner, Angela (Alton) Robbins, and Christina Jordan; ten brothers: John Williams, Michael Edmondson, James (Sarah) Collins, James (Angela) Edmondson, Andre Collins, Wayne (Debra) Collins, Jason (Jodie) Collins, Dast (Carla) Sturkie, Lewis (JoAnn) Sturkie, and Edward (Vikki) Sturkie. She also leaves a host of devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and one Best Friend, Marie (ReRe) Hutchinson, who will forever cherish her memory. Though Shirley has departed this earthly life, her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
