Sakeena Caldwell

Today we gather in respect and love to celebrate the life of Sakeena Caldwell, a radiant soul who graced the world with her presence on New Year's Day, January 1, 1961, in Talladega, Alabama. She peacefully departed this earthly realm on May 15, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family, embracing the master's call with the same grace she exhibited throughout her life. Sakeena was a source of joy and love-a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend-who is lovingly remembered for the vibrant smile that illuminated even the cloudiest of days. She was raised in a nurturing household by her loving parents, Oscar Howell and Bettye Jackson Howell, and throughout her life, she remained an strong pillar of support for her family and friends. Educated in the Talladega City School System, Sakeena graduated from Talladega High School, where she laid the foundations for her lifelong journey in the realm of nourishment and care. Her most fulfilling role was that of a cook and nutritionist in the cafeteria at Talladega College, where she enriched the lives of countless students with her culinary talents and warm spirit. Above all, Sakeena adored her children, Tiannia and Dennis, showering them with unconditional love and guidance. She was a loving grandmother to her precious grandson, Devontae, who brought profound joy and fulfillment to her life. The memories of their cherished time together, filled with laughter and love, will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew her. A member of the Word of God Community Church, Sakeena dedicated her life to her faith, exemplifying love, kindness, and devotion to God in all aspects. She now rejoices in the heavenly embrace of her beloved son, Dennis Rashad Caldwell, her father, Oscar Caldwell, and bonus brother, Charles Calhoun, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories in the hearts of those she touched. Sakeena Caldwell will be lovingly remembered by her beautiful daughter, Tiannia Caldwell; her grandson, Devontae Rashad Herring; her devoted mother, Bettye Howell; her dear sisters, Lorez Howell and Muriel "Stan" Elston; cherished niece, Skye Howell; and a host of cousins and friends, all of whom will keep her memory alive in their hearts forever. As we reflect on her life, let us not only mourn her passing but celebrate the radiant legacy she leaves behind-a legacy filled with love, laughter, and lessons learned that will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
