Ms. Ronnie Marie Calhoun

February 25, 1956 - December 2, 2021

Ms. Ronnie Marie (Garrett) Calhoun, age 65, of University Place, Washington, formerly of Alpine, Alabama was born February 25, 1956, to the late Rev. James and Martha Lee (Morris) Garrett. Ms. Calhoun, being the only child and the daughter of a minister was nurtured in the church. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Kingston Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of her father, the late Rev. James Garrett. She was steadfast and served faithfully until she relocated to Tacoma, Washington with her daughter, who was faithfully serving in the United States Army. Ms. Calhoun received her formal education in the Talladega County School System, where she was a graduate of Talladega County Training High School. She then worked in retail for over 20 years, of which she was soon to retire. Ms. Calhoun enjoyed caring for her family and being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her commitment and dedication to her family was vividly illustrated when she deracinated from her home in Alpine, Alabama to relocate and explore the world with her daughters and grandchildren. She was living her best life traveling as a proud Military Parent around the world and making lasting memories with the joys of her life. Ms. Calhoun was a true matriarch and the heart of her family. Ms. Calhoun loved to laugh and smile, and she genuinely brought joy to others around her. She looked forward to celebrating accomplishments, birthdays, and holidays with those who appreciated and loved her most. She enjoyed watching Lifetime, HGTV, and Days of Our Lives. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, keeping her nails on fleek, and adventures with her best friend. Ms. Ronnie Marie (Garrett) Calhoun completed her journey of exuberant life and selfless love on December 02, 2021, while visiting her family in Alabama. Upon gaining her heavenly wings, Ms. Calhoun was reunited with her beloved parents, the late Rev. James and Martha Garrett. Ms. Calhoun will remain in the hearts and loving memories of her two caring daughters, Monteria Calhoun of University Place, Washington and Master Sergeant (MSG) Makeshia Calhoun, Retired US Army; her three adorable grandchildren, Ranasia, Antrum, and Braeden; her Goddaughter, Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4) Twana (Dion) Chapman, Retired US Army of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Ronnie Marie (Garrett) Calhoun will always be remembered for her love of family and others, sense of humor, loyalty, and genuinely kind heart.
