Reatha Posey

Mrs. Reatha Hubbard Posey, transitioned peacefully in her home on March 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 25, 1940, in Saint Clair County, Alabama, Reatha was a beacon of faith and love, the cherished daughter of Andy Hubbard, Sr. and Nellie Mae Robinson Hubbard. Reatha dedicated her life to the service of God and her community. From a young age, she embraced her Christian faith and became an active member of First Baptist Church South in Pell City, where she served diligently as the President of the Mission Society and the Senior Usher Board. Her steadfast commitment to her church underscored her role as a true servant, tirelessly working in the vineyard of our Lord. A proud graduate of Saint Clair County Training School, Reatha began her career in the textile industry, finding her calling at Avondale Mills. After 29 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1998, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. Reatha was intertwined with the fabric of her community, contributing her time and energy to various organizations, including the Help Save Our Children Organization and the Riverview Elks Temple #1393. Her spirit of giving extended beyond service; she found joy in sewing, gardening, and exploring new adventures, filling her life with beauty and creativity. On the day she answered her Master's call, Reatha was reunited with her beloved husband, James Douglas Posey, her parents, and her siblings, Andy Hubbard, Jr. and Johnny Hubbard, and nephew/bonus son, Shane Hubbard, who all preceded her in death. She leaves behind a loving legacy, including her devoted children, Van (Regina) Posey and Larissa (Christopher) Evans; her bonus son/nephew Joshua Hubbard; grandchildren, Van Posey, II, Morgan Bell, Broderick Nobles, Christopher Evans, II, and Romero Evans; as well as great-grandchildren ZaKari Posey, Christopher Evans, III, Hjordis Daffron, Ayden Johnson, Lola Johnson, and Aubrie Johnson, alongside a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As we gather to remember and celebrate Mrs. Reatha Posey, let us reflect on the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the indomitable spirit she bestowed upon us-a true testament to a life well-lived. May her memory continue to inspire us to strive for kindness, compassion, and service as she did. Rest in peace, dear Reatha, your good and faithful service will never be forgotten.
