Pearline Williams

On July 11, 1945 in Talladega, Alabama, two beautiful and sweet bubbly baby girls named Pearline and Earline was born to the union of the Joe Garrett, Sr. and Luellen Garrett. Pearline was a beacon of love, faith, and kindness, cherished by all who had the privilege to know her. Raised in the nurturing embrace of her parent's home, Pearline's journey of faith began early in life as she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her spirit of service flourished at Kingston Missionary Baptist Church, where she dedicated herself wholeheartedly. She later united with Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church before finding her final church home at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Pearline embodied the essence of commitment, serving on the usher board, as a deaconess, church announcer, and a faithful member of the Sunday school. A product of the Talladega County School System, Pearline graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1963. She pursued further education, receiving her associate's degree in business administration from Gadsden State Community College. Her professional journey took her through various roles, serving as a supervisor at Crown Textile and Tyson Foods, and culminating her career as a child nutritionist with TCR. Pearline made the loving choice to retire, relishing the fruits of her labor and prioritizing time with family and friends. Known affectionately for her delicious homemade pound cakes, Pearline filled her home with warmth, laughter, and compassion. It was not uncommon to find her engrossed in a judge show or working diligently on word search puzzles. Throughout her life, Pearline had a profound passion for gospel music, finding joy and comfort in attending gospel singings. These gatherings not only brought her happiness but also fostered a deep sense of community and connection with others. Her love for music was an expression of her faith, bringing light to all who were touched by her spirit. Her beautiful smile and infectious personality were a testament to her loving nature-a soft-spoken soul who touched the lives of many with her strength, honesty, and devotion. On the morning of February 3, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, gathered Pearline into His embrace, welcoming her home at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. Now, she rests in eternal peace, rejoicing in the presence of her beloved parents, Joe Garrett, Sr. and Luellen Garrett, her husband, Willie Williams, her twin sister, Earline Howard, her cherished daughter, Valerie (George, Jr.) Holland, and her two brothers. Pearline's legacy of love and her sweet spirit will forever be etched in the hearts of her three loving and devoted daughters, Beverly McNeal, Theresa (Rodney) Jones, and Alecia (Terrance) Young; two bonus sons, William (Angela) Williams and Cornelius Williams; brother, Joe Garrett, Jr.; four sisters, Isabell Woods, Georgia Curry, Edna Garrett, and Betty (Percy) Fuller; bonus sisters, Bessie Moore, Carolyn Dye, and Brenda Stockdale; nine grandchildren, Brandon Holland, Quadrey (Monica) Fletcher, Minister Marquentin (Jasmine) Holland, Tevin (Markia) Fletcher, D'Mario (Veronica) Fletcher, Jartavious McNeal, Terrant Young, Terrell Young, and Tyson Young; eleven great-grandchildren; and a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry her memory forward, celebrating the love she so abundantly shared. As we gather to remember our sweet Pearline, let us celebrate her, honor her legacy, and embrace the love she instilled in each of us. May her memory be a blessing, guiding us as we carry forward the gift of her life.
