Ms. Patricia Ann Lawler, 74, of Wetumpka, Alabama, formerly of Talladega, was born on January 4, 1948 to the late James Lawler, Sr. and Zora McGhee Lawler in Talladega, Alabama. At an early age, Patricia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Mt. Canaan Baptist Church serving faithfully until she moved to Wetumpka. She received her formal education in the Talladega City School System and was a 1966 graduate of Westside High School. Although Patricia attended New World College in Anniston, Alabama receiving a degree in cosmetology, she chose children and their education as her lifetime career. Patricia began her career as a Headstart teacher in the Talladega City School System and after relocating to Wetumpka, Alabama her passion and love for children and education continued as she was employed for over twenty years as a Headstart teacher in the Elmore County School System. Her passion for teaching eventually led her to retirement after over forty years of teaching. She was loved by all her children and their families. Along Patricia's graciously blessed 74-year earthly journey, she became the proud mother of a lovely baby girl, Stephanie Renee. Patricia, affectionately known as "Pat" was the heart of her family and she loved taking care of her two beautiful granddaughters, Cheltzie and Courtney and being in the presence of her only great-grandchild, Kaiden. She, her longtime pet cocker spaniel, Buffy, and her beloved mother, Zora, always looked forward to Friday evenings to sit around with the girls frying fish and talking. Patricia enjoyed her quiet time reading and would spend countless hours on the banks or at her pond fishing. She was known by her family for being very feisty, but sweet and cute as a button. Patricia always cherished the time she spent living with her family and will be missed immensely by her loved ones. Patricia completed her journey of exuberant life and selfless love on June 2, 2022 surrounded by loved ones while under the care of Ivy Creek Hospice at Wetumpka Health and Rehab. Preceding her in death are her loving parents, James Lawler, Sr. and Zora McGhee Lawler, brother, James Lawler, Jr. and brother-in-law, Samuel Truss. Patricia will remain in loving memories by her dedicated and devoted daughter Stephanie Renee (Maurice) Dates; two beautiful granddaughters, Cheltzie Dates and Courtney Dates; one handsome little grandson, Kaiden Riggins, two sisters, Juanita Truss and Barbara (Lamar) Lane; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Patricia will always be remembered for her love of others, her humor, her loyalty, and her kind heart.
