Mary Young

Mary Lee Mosely Young was born on October 2, 1933, in Calhoun County, Alabama, to the late Sallie and J.T. Mosely. She received her education through the Anniston City School System. At the age of sixteen, Mary united with Saint John United Methodist Church, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and service to God. Later in life, she became a faithful member of Haven United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible study. Mary had a gift for putting her faith into words. She wrote numerous meditations and sermons, which she shared at church and at other events, touching the hearts and lives of many. Mary was united in marriage to the late Jerry Young, Jr. To this union, three children were born: Stanley, Michael, and Cathy Marie. She faithfully worked for several companies and retired in 1992 from Wessex House Nursing Home, now known as Jacksonville Health and Rehab. Mary was a woman of strength, wisdom, perseverance, and unwavering faith. Mary believed that God's law is good when one uses it properly. She had been told what to expect, and she faced the end of her earthly journey with courage and faith. She kept the faith, fought the good fight, and finished her earthly race. She believed that when her time came, she would be in a better place, where her enemies could no longer hurt her. She knew that her family loved her, but she knew that Jesus loved her more. And now, she rests in the joy and peace she believed awaited her-happy every day in the presence of her Lord. Mary's earthly journey came to an end on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Jacksonville Health and Rehab. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Young, Jr.; her parents, Sallie and J.T. Mosely; and her son, Michael Young. Mary leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, perseverance, and words of wisdom that will continue to live in the hearts of her daughter, Cathy Young; her son, Stanley (Rachel) Young; her grandchildren, Kenesha Carpenter, Theron Montgomery, Derrick Davis, and V. Martel (Keri) Williams; her special friends, Linda Swain, Edna Jones, Mary Heath, and Zelma Kirkland; a host of great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. She kept the faith. She fought the good fight. She finished her race. And now she is at peace with Jesus.
