August 23, 1947 - May 16, 2021
On August 23, 1947 in Talladega, Alabama, the late Mrs. Gladys Beavers Truss and Mr. Lee Curtis Truss gave birth to a beautiful sparkling baby girl named Mary. At an early age, Mary accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Macedonia Baptist Church where she remained a faithful and active member until her demise. Mary's love for God and her church was proven throughout life as she remained an active member of many organizations while working in his vineyard. Mary served as the church accountant, secretary, and as a Sunday School teacher. While being a public servant for the Lord, Mary was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Trust Pride Lodge Chapter 619 and Habitat for Humanity for many years. She received her childhood and adolescent education in the Talladega County School System and was a graduate Talladega County Training School Class of 1965, known today as Talladega County Central High School. Mary continued her education by attending Stillman College and later began her working career as an Equal Employment Opportunity Officer at The Anniston Army Depot. Mary remained a devoted and dedicated employee of Anniston Army Depot for 37 years and 9 months before retiring in 2007. All the years of Mary's philosophical comprehension and organizational skills were highly acknowledged at her retirement when she gained honor and recognition with The American Flag being flown atop the Capitol. Although Mary treated everyone like family and enjoyed helping others, her son, Larrez and her 3 granddaughters were the jewels of her life. Mary was loved by many people. Traveling, cooking, camping, fishing, reading, and working in the Lord's Vineyard were her passionate hobbies. Mrs. Mary enjoyed cooking for family, friends, and loved ones. She was such a fun-loving and kind-hearted person who was cherished immensely by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Mary will truly be missed by all the lives she has touched and people she has encountered. On early Sunday morning, May 16, 2021, while under the care of Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Mary Truss Green, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, at the age of 73, peacefully transitioned from this earthly walk of life to her new eternal resting place when she answered the call of her Master saying, "Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant". Greeting her with outstretched arms at those pearly gates of heaven are her parents, Mrs. Gladys Beavers Truss and Mr. Lee Curtis Truss. Mary's memories will forever be cherished and remembered by her loving and devoted husband of over 35 years, Mr. Larry Green; a loving son, Larrez (Gatina) Green; three granddaughters, Bailey Morgan, Kylie Crosby, and Lily Green; two brothers, Robert McCargo and Leo Truss; four sisters, Joyce (Henry) Elston, Marilyn (George) Cameron, Brenda Hall, and Vanessa (Kenneth) Reed; one half-sister, Annie Mae Cochran; a lifetime friend, Mrs. Barbara Dunn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
