Lois Jean Truss

A life well lived is measured not in years alone but in love poured out, faith carried forward, and lives forever changed. On March 29, 1943, in Eastaboga, Alabama, God entrusted the world with Lois Jean Montgomery. Lois Jean was the second oldest of ten children born to John and Lucille Montgomery. From humble beginnings she rose as a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and boundless generosity. Affectionately known as Aunt Jean, she received her education at Ophelia High School, laying the foundation for the life she would later build. Her spiritual walk was anchored at Sunlight Baptist Church where she joyfully sang in the choir and developed a life long love of playing the piano in worship and service. Seeking a new adventure, Lois Jean moved to Chicago to live with her Aunt Ann and Uncle Ed. There, faith brought her back to Eastaboga, Alabama where she met the love of her life. For 46 years, she was married to the late Reverend Larry Truss, and she served faithfully alongside him in ministry for 30 years until his retirement. Beyond church, Lois Jean enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille Montgomery; and her siblings, Robert Montgomery, Andrew Montgomery, Johnny Montgomery, Joe Louis Montgomery, Gertrude Montgomery, and Dottie Montgomery. Lois Jean Truss leaves to mourn her sons, Dexter Truss, John Winters, Tracy Truss, and Quintt Truss; daughter, Naomi (Larry) Truss; grandchildren, Destiny (Corey) Martin, Noah Truss, Devin Truss, Alonzo Winters, Alisa Truss-Payne, Cierra......., Trey Cohill, Larry Gude, Ashley Gude, and Torrey Gude; great-grandchildren, Malachi Martin, Maverick Martin, Jensen Truss, Jamezy Truss-Payne, Zaza C. Latimore, Zaizen Latimore, Chloe Arriola, Camron Arriola, and Tyler Gude; brother, Eddie (Jennie) Montgomery; sister, Linda (Oliver) James; goddaughter, Lanell Truss; sisters-in-law, Essie Truss and Ernestine Bowie; brother-in-law, Pat Curry; and a host of other relatives and friends. She is now at the top of the family tree. She was an aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt. Her life was a testament to faith, service, love and legacy. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
