Mr. Lester Cambric, Jr. affectionately known as Cam, was born on March 2, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the parentage of the late Lester Cambric, Sr. and Vicey Prevost Cambric. He was one of ten children born to this union. Lester received Christ at an early age and received his formal education in the New Orleans School District. He later joined the United States Army and faithfully served his country for 20 years before retiring. He obtained the rank of Sergeant before retiring. Once returning to civilian life, Lester became employed with various companies including AAFES, Price Lo, and Toledo Bend in Leesville, Louisiana. In 1972, Lester married the love of his life, Mrs. Mary V. Smith Cambric and to this union three beautiful children were raised, Anthony, Darnell, and Gary. Lester and Mary were blessed with 41 great devoted years of marriage until her passing on June 10, 2013. Lester was a loving husband, father, and uncle to his nieces and nephews. Lester and his family traveled and lived life to the fullest. Lester boarded the train to glory on Tuesday morning, October 12, 2021, saying goodbye to pain and worry while under the care of Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, Texas. Preceding Lester in death are his parents, Lester and Vicy Cambric, Sr., wife, Mary Cambric, siblings, Isiah Johnson, Leonard Johnson, Raymond Cambric, Donald Cambric, Mervin Cambric and Gaynell Thomas. As he greets those gone before, he awaits those whom he left behind. Lester's memories will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted children, Anthony (Shenisa) Cambric of Sasche, Texas, Darnell Smith of Oxford, Alabama and Gary W. (Donette) Smith of Danville, Illinois; grandchildren, Brittany Fleming, Sterling Fleming, Jr., Jamarius Smith, Nia Cambric, Jasmine Cambric and Shawn Cambric; great-grandchildren, Sterling III, Peyton, Xavier, and Kai; sister, Althea Johnson of New Orleans, Louisiana; two brothers, Felton (Filipinas) Cambric of Melborne, Florida and Alvin Cambric of New Orleans, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Clemmie (Fred) Young of Oxford, Alabama, Annye (Don) Huguley of Anniston, Alabama and Lillie James of Detroit, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Jesse (Elaine) Smith of Munford, Alabama and Larry (Dianne) Smith of Macon, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
