Mrs. JoAnn Posey was born in Shelby County, Alabama on January 25, 1936 to the union of the late Mr. Nash Hardy and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Mitchell Hardy. JoAnn began her life early as a Faithful Follower of Christ! Being led by the Spirit of Jesus, she became an active and devoted member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor J.B. Jones where she served faithfully and continued serving until her health began to fail under the leadership of Rev. Cameron Thomas. Along Joann's beautiful 86-year earthly journey, she was united in Holy Matrimony in March of 1954 to Mr. Harold Posey and this union was blessed with five loving children, Dwight, Joe, Lenora, Caravella and Connie. Her most lovely relationship that came only second to the love of God is the relationship that was shared with her late husband Mr. Harold Posey. JoAnn loved her children and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. JoAnn Posey, affectionately known to everyone as "Madea" was a housewife who loved to cook and would feed anyone. She was everybody's "Madea"!! JoAnn was a feisty fashionista queen that loved to dress up in the finest of hats and her coordinative suits. She loved bargain hunting and she made sure she caught as many yard sales as she could, not to mention clearance and sales racks in the back of any store. Her family and friends are going to miss all the countless evenings and late nights of playing tunk with Madea waiting for her to get that PAIR!!!! Madea is going to be missed immensely by all the hearts she has touched and lives she has encountered on her 86-year journey. Heaven has truly gained an Angel. On Tuesday, June 28, 2022 JoAnn calmly made her transition from her beautiful 86-year earthly life journey to her new eternal heavenly home when she answered the Master's call while in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones and under the care of Amedisys Hospice. As she walked through those pearly gates, she was welcomed to her new home by her loving husband, Mr. Harold Posey, parents, Nash and Annie Hardy, son, Dwight Tracy Posey, and seven siblings, Ostrich Hardy, Nash Henry Hardy, Clayvell Hardy, Thomas Hardy, Barbara Phillips, Gracie Hamilton and Ruth Jordan. She leaves to cherish many warm and loving memories, one son, Joe Harold (Voncicle) Posey of Harpersville, Alabama; three daughters, Lenora (Andrew) Watford of Upper Malboro, Maryland, Caravella (Ory) McGinnis of Vincent, Alabama, and Connie (Thomas Turner) Posey of Vincent, Alabama; twenty grandchildren, twenty nine great-grandchildren; one brother, J.W. Hardy, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; a very special Goddaughter, "Jerrica Hamilton" of Harpersville, Alabama; and a host of other relatives and friends.
