James Howell

Mr. James Howell was born in Talladega, AL on August 11, 1937 to parents Frank and Claudia Coleman Howell. James was the fourth child born of this union. After James was married to Alberta Barclay, he moved from Talladega to Rochester, NY where he worked and retired from Eastman Kodak Company. After retirement, he moved back to Talladega, Alabama and worked at Walmart for many years. James was a good person who loved his family and friends. He would do anything for you, all you had to do was ask, and he always had a beautiful smile on his face. He had a unique mechanical ability and could build just about anything. Also, he had a special love for playing the guitar and singing. He performed with the Savage Spiritual Wonders in Talladega, AL and The Christian Travelers of Rochester, NY. James regularly sang and performed at Kelley Springs Baptist Church and Mount Canaan Baptist Church of which he was a member. James was predeceased in death by parents Frank and Claudia Howell, stepmother, Willie Mae Howell, wife, Catherine Reed-Howell, brother, Calvin Howell, sisters, Catherine Pope and Dorothy Carter, granddaughter Tynisha Conyers and grandson Shannon McKnight. James is survived by his children, Mr. James (Kathleen) Howell, Mrs. Alma (Terry) Lucas, Ms. Cynthia McKnight, Ms. Kathy McKnight, and Mr. Anthony McKnight all of Rochester, NY, Mr. Danny Howell and Ms. Veria McKnight of Talladega, AL, and Mrs. Angela (Brian) Gibbs of Buffalo, NY; his brother, Mr. Frank Howell, Jr. of Talladega, AL and sister, Nellie Mae Burno of Hephzibah, GA; grandchildren Sheree Howell, James Howell, Danny Howell Jr., and Kassim Howell; five great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, great nieces, nephews, and friends.
