Henry Truss, Sr.

With heavy hearts but grateful spirits, we mourn the passing of Mr. Henry Truss, Sr., who departed from this life on April 27, 2026, at the age of 90 in his beloved hometown of Talladega, Alabama. Born on January 27, 1936, to Frank Truss and Irene Hall Martin, Henry was a pillar of strength and kindness in his family and community. Henry accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he found purpose and fellowship. His journey through education included his time at Talladega County Training School, which laid the groundwork for his successful career in the foundry industry. As an Iron Pourer and Core Machine Operator, Henry worked diligently and tirelessly, manifesting a firm work ethic that served as a testament to his character. Renowned as a true Jack of all Trades, Henry's interests spanned many realms. He found joy in gardening, a refuge in mechanic work, and satisfaction in the artistry of carpentry. In the quiet moments of his life, he would often press his luck playing the lottery hoping for the big win and sharing laughter with family as they imagined what adventures that might bring. Our beloved Henry has now entered a well-deserved eternal rest, reuniting with his predeceased family members: his parents, Frank Truss and Irene Martin; son, Dexter Truss, Sr.; brother, William Truss; sisters, Inez Truss, Ola Mae Truss, and Ivy Lee Truss; and grandsons, Eric Bernard Chatman and William Storey. His legacy endures through his son, Henry (Hattie) Truss, Jr.; daughters, Sharon Storey, Donna (Alex) Gilbert, and Dataska (Wayne) Smith; and his beloved niece, Cathy Leonard. The heartwarming memories are carried forth by his grandchildren, Latania Michelle (Marvin) Oden, Kendrick Lamar Truss, Cedric L. Truss, Contessa L. Truss, Dexter (Andrea) Truss, Jr., Decoris Truss, Sr., T'Keyliah Truss, Cordarius (Kimberly) Gilbert, Christopher Gilbert, CaTia Gilbert, Javier Truss, Soraya Smith, Howard (Amethyst) Storey, Jr., and Tracy (Craig) Groce; great-grandchildren, and an extensive network of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones who will truly miss him. As we gather to celebrate Henry's life, we invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring a remarkable journey-a life filled with dedication, laughter, and love that will echo in our hearts forever.
