Harold Draper

Born on September 28, 1963, to the nurturing union of Norman and Mattie Bell Draper, Harold A. Draper embodied a spirit that was both vibrant and generous, touching the lives of many throughout his remarkable journey. Harold's faith was a guiding light from his youth, as he accepted Christ and later in life he began attending Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. He gleaned wisdom and knowledge through his education in the Talladega County School System, culminating in his proud graduation from Talladega County Training School (TCTS). His commitment to service led him to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he dedicated four years of his life to protecting his country. Harold's honorable discharge was marked by numerous accolades, including the Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Hand Grenade (Sharpshooter), M-16 Rifle (Marksman), and Mechanic Badge, testament to his hard work and integrity as a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. After serving his country, Harold became a valued machinist at Kimberly Clark Paper Plant, where he poured his heart and soul into his work until his well-deserved retirement. Those who knew him recognized his infectious laughter and candid spirit; he was a man who spoke his mind, always ready with a joke to brighten the day. Harold's passions ranged from basketball to vintage cars, and his love for cooking and entertaining brought joy to gatherings with family and friends. Harold A. Draper entered into eternal rest on June 12, 2026, in the comfort of his beloved home in Talladega, Alabama. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Mattie Draper, brothers, William Draper, Aaron Draper, Norman Wayne Draper, and Dion Draper, and sisters, Roslyn Draper and Mary Coty, leaving a legacy of love and laughter that will be deeply missed. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Eboni (Paris) Friday, Reina Draper, and Harley Draper; his brother, Marvin Draper; sisters, Sherneverlyne (Alonzo) Hill, Lillie (Michael) McNeil, and Juakia (Paul) Coleman; grandchildren, Aniya, Sydney, Paris Jr., Kali, Alivia, and Hasani; as well as a close nephew, Tonta Draper, who was like a brother to him. He leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives he enriched. As we reflect on Harold's life, we remember a man who was loving, caring, and full of wisdom, an eternal friend and a cherished father. Though he has departed from our sight, he remains forever in our hearts. May his spirit soar and his laughter echo in the memories of those who loved him.
