Grant loved to work, and it was proven in his later years after retirement when he became a dedicated substitute teacher in the Talladega County School System until his demise. In 2015, Grant Whiteside and his wife, Minnie Whiteside, became licensed foster parents. Through this journey, Grant and Minnie were able to obtain kinship guardianship of Maryonah Whiteside, Dontavious Pope Jr., Jaiden Pope, and Zriyah Pope. On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Mr. Grant Whiteside began his eternal walk at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death on this journey by his parents, T.L.
