Gloria Jones

Gloria Jean Jones, a vibrant spirit, was born on December 25, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, to the loving parents of James Wesley and Mary Lois "Jones" Thomas. Gloria's journey through life began in the warm embrace of her family, shaped by the formative years spent in Chicago where she completed her education at Manley High School. From a young age, she demonstrated a steadfast faith, accepting Christ and uniting with Second Mt. Vernon Church, serving with grace and dedication as an usher. Later, her heart and spirit found a new home at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, where her loving kindness continued to touch the lives of others. Known affectionately as "Glo," Gloria was imbued with a zest for life that was palpable. She found joy in the simplest of pleasures-watching television, losing herself in the pages of a good book, and the thrill of a night out bowling. Her passion for music was infectious, making her a captivating dancer who could light up any room with her presence. Above all, Gloria's heart swelled with love for her family and friends, honoring those connections with unwavering loyalty and devotion. As time winds its course, we look ahead to a future where Gloria's spirit transcends this earthly realm, as she embarks on her journey towards eternal peace. Gloria Jean "Glo" Jones, a cherished daughter, devoted mother, beloved sister, adoring grandmother, and a steadfast friend gracefully departed this world on December 15, 2025, in the comfort of her home. She is now reunited with her father, James Wesley, grandson, Zion Jones, and special friend, Jerry Lee. The legacy of her vibrant spirit and generous heart will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. In the tapestry of memories that remain, Gloria leaves behind a legacy woven with love, laughter, and firm familial ties. Her presence, love, and strength will forever resonate in the hearts of her three loving daughters: Lakecia (Anestin) Jones-Homme, Katrina Jones, and Adrianne (Christopher) Jones-Trotter; and son Steven Jones. She was also an adoring grandmother, reveling in the joy brought to her life by her nine grandchildren: Amari Jones, Joshua Knox, Angelo Turner, Jaia Jones, Demetrius McCrary, Demetrius Jones, Dezmond Jones, Ashton Fields, and Christian Trotter; great-grandchildren, JaKamron Howard, JaKylin Jones, and JaKobe Jones. In addition to her immediate family, Gloria is survived by her loving and devoted mother, Mary (Julius) Thomas; bonus mother, Joann Wesley; as well as her brothers, Frederick Wesley, Samuel Malone, and Nevonska (Geneva) Munn; sisters, Mary Faye Garrett, Barbara Ann (Jerry) Jackson, and Angela (Shawn) Edwards; and special friend, Ethel "Chuck" Curry. She was a guiding light for a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish the memories created with her. Her kindness, resilience, and the depth of her maternal love will resonate in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. As we remember Gloria, we celebrate a life that was beautifully lived, a spirit that danced through life with fervor, and a love that enveloped all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her memory serve as a reminder of the joy that can be found in both grand moments and simple pleasures, shining brightly in our lives as she continues to dance among the stars.
