George Brown

Mr. George Francis Brown, peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on July 6, 2026, at Citizen's Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, Alabama, surrounded by the love of his cherished family. Mr. Brown, born on February 1, 1949, to George Washington Brown and Mary Francis Calloway Brown, lived a life characterized by warmth, kindness, and steadfast devotion to those he loved. George's journey began in Talladega, where he accepted Christ at a young age and became a member of Lily Hill Baptist Church. His early education flourished within the halls of the Talladega City School System, concluding at Westside High School. The path he carved thereafter led him into the textile industry at Crown Textile before he sought new horizons in Detroit, Michigan, contributing to the legacy of Ford Motor Company, and later, he found his way to Buffalo, New York, where he resided for over four decades. In 2025, George joyously returned to his beloved hometown of Talladega. A loving father and grandfather, George was celebrated not only for his love of family but also for his strong passion for sports. He was a diehard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Buffalo Bills, often lost in the excitement of football, basketball, and wrestling. Those who knew George fondly remember him as he enjoyed the old westerns that captured his imagination during his quiet moments. As we reflect on his remarkable life, we honor the memory of a man who leaves behind a legacy filled with love and laughter. Preceding him in death are his beloved parents, George and Mary Brown; daughter, Sandra Wilson; brother, Patrick Brown; sisters, Sandra Wilson and Phyllis Brown; and his devoted companion of forty years, Janet Rainey. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Arettta Brown, along with a vibrant tapestry of family: sons , Roderick Brown and Joey Brown; daughters, Shonda Brown, Francetta Brown, Shonkia Brown, and Dominique Mack; brothers, Willie Joe (Shavonne) Brown, Larry D. (Diane Swain) Brown, Tracy (Lillian) Brown, Anthony Cleveland, Devilin (Andrea) Cameron, and Terrance (Qiana) Brown; sisters, Georgetta Woodgett, Mary Lou (Glenn) Finnie, Pearl Collins, and Donna Brown; bonus children, Clifton Rainey, Karisma Parks, and Courtney Crout; grandchildren, Rodriquez Simmons, Tawanika Brown, Ayshia Brown, Ra'Niya Brown, Ryuna Brown, Delveccehio Whitson, Cameron Brown, Ramone Wheeler, Rafiel Wheeler, Tandra Morris, June Morris, James Brown, Ka'lanii Johnson, Antaliyah Minter, and Arianna Brown; great-grandchildren, Ja'Niyla Twymon, Legend Brown, Zylah Simmons, Damareo Simmons, Harlym Brown, King Wheeler, Amir Wheeler, Amari Wheeler, Messiah Wheeler, Maia Wheeler, Jacob Morris, Jacoby Morris, Isiah Morris, Maize Morris, Ade Brown, Ada Brown, Summer Pearson, and Ny'Ari Simmons; special friend of family, Sharon Knight; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever keep his memories alive. In the end, we celebrate Mr. George Francis Brown-a man of faith, a family man, and a passionate sports fan-whose legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
