Geneve Levitt

Mrs. Geneve Cochran Levitt, a beloved soul graced our lives with her warmth and kindness. Born on February 3, 1957, in Talladega, Alabama, to the cherished union of Nem Cochran and Nellie White Cochran, Geneve embodied love and resilience throughout her life. Geneve accepted Christ at a young age while attending Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church as a youth. As an adult she continued her journey in Christ while attending Word of Truth Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where her spiritual journey continued to blossom. She pursued her education in the Talladega County School System, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service. Her career spanned many years in the healthcare industry at Baptist Medical Center, culminating in a well-deserved retirement that allowed her to embrace the joys of family life. After living in Birmingham for over 40 years, Geneve returned home to Talladega to continue her 69-year journey. As a nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother, Geneve was the heart of her family, bringing laughter and joy into every gathering. Her husband, Willie Carl Levitt, with whom she shared over 53 loving years, stood as her steadfast companion. Geneve reveled in time spent with her daughter Jenny and her grandchildren, whom she held as her most treasured gifts. Known for her humor and dedication, she was often the glue that held her family together. She and her husband delighted in their escapades to the slots, moments that became sweet escapes from the daily grind. On the morning of February 16, 2026, Mrs. Geneve Cochran Levitt departed this earthly realm surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and cherished memories. She is now united with her parents, Nem and Nellie Cochran, and her daughters, Jacqueline, Tracey, and Kimberly Levitt, four brothers, and three sisters in heavenly repose. Geneve leaves behind an intricate tapestry of love and remembrance, woven together by her devoted husband Willie Levitt; her beloved daughter Jenny (Austin) Sharpe; her brothers and sisters, Norman Cochran, Robert Cochran, Nem Cochran Jr, Jean Crockett and Jerry Turner; her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold her memories in their hearts. Let us come together to honor and celebrate the life of Geneve Levitt-a beacon of love, light, and laughter whose spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
