Edna Mae Jenkins

Edna Mae Truss Jenkins, 79, daughter of the late Alfred Truss and Stacey Mosley Truss was born October 16, 1942, in Lincoln, Alabama. She became a loyal and active member of the Rocky Mount Missionary Baptist Church and volunteered as a teacher during Vacation Bible School. Edna received her education in the Talladega County School system and was a 1961 graduate of Talladega County Training School (TCTS). She then continued her education at Alabama State University majoring in Elementary Education. Edna also attended New Horizons and Central Piedmont Community College where she studied and became proficient in computer software programs. She was a member of her high school alumnae association and a devoted supporter of her Alma Mater, TCTS. Edna's professional journey took her to New York, where she worked in Office Administration, initially as an Administrative Assistant at MacMillan Inc and later Payroll Clerk. Her career as a payroll administrator landed her jobs at companies including Brentano's, Inc, Polytechnic University, Coca Cola, Inc and United Family Services, Inc. Following her years in payroll, Edna returned home to Talladega, Alabama and resumed work as an educator for elementary students at First Priority of Alabama. She completed her professional career at SCSEP Training Program where she assisted clients in resume writing and computer skills. She loved her work and connected with many throughout the years. Edna was known for her baking, fashion and most importantly, her spirit. Edna enjoyed baking and cake decorating. She loved sending family and friends her famous pound cake and zucchini bread. Her outfits were never short of outstanding. From vibrant colors and bold patterns to brooches and hats, Edna always stood out. More than anything, Edna touched the hearts of loved ones with her amazing personality. Edna carried a sweet spirit, loved to laugh, and always brought joy to others around her. She was well known by her family, friends and community for her loyalty, generosity, kindness, and energy. "Live well, love much and laugh often" was her life motto. Edna completed her journey of exuberant life and selfless love on Friday, March 11, 2022, as she peacefully fell asleep and answered her Master's Call while under the care of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. She was met at the pearly gates and welcomed home by her loving son, Derrick Jerome Truss, beloved parents, Alfred and Stacey Truss and siblings, Lee Truss, Fred Truss, Lonnie Truss, Ebernell Cochran, Willie Mae Howell, Dorothy Truss and Joe Ann Truss Penn. Edna will remain in loving memories of her dedicated and devoted daughter-in-law, Donnette Truss and niece who was like a daughter, Nicole Truss; grandchildren, Victoria Lynn Truss, Daisia Truss, Ronella Rodney, and Jarred Dailey; two bonus grandchildren Colton and Brendon Truss; three brothers, Danny Truss, Reginald Charles Truss and Larry Truss; six sisters, Daphne (Michael) Williams, Sandra (Roy) Best, Clarissa Truss, Tina Truss, Cynthia (Donald) Miller and Rhonda Truss Rogers; two bonus brothers, Charles Chapman and Clayton Chapman; one bonus sister, Patricia Chapman Jones; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Edna will always be remembered for her love of others, her humor, her loyalty, and her kind heart.
