Denise Ragland

February 19, 1961 - February 15, 2022

Ms. Denise Ragland, 60, was born February 19, 1961 to the late James Cook and Mae Ola Calhoun Curry in Talladega, Alabama. Denise accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and fellowshipped with various churches. She attended school in the Talladega County School System and was a graduate of Lincoln High School. Denise was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Mason Ragland, Jr. for nearly 30 years and together they raised three beautiful children, Mason, III, Dedric, and Tiffany. Affectionately known to all as "Poontsie", she loved her kids and her family and always loved to have fun with them. Denise enjoyed being a beautician, cooking and cleaning, but her most known talent was in designing and decorating, something she really loved and enjoyed. She loved singing and entertaining people and was the life of the party, but you can't leave out the fact that she was a true diehard Alabama "Roll Tide" fan. Denise's life journey ended on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, while under the care of Medical Center West in Bessemer, Alabama. Once receiving her heavenly wings, she was reunited with her father James Cook, sister, Sheila Curry, and her two grandsons. Denise will remain in loving memories by her two sons, Detric (Jamie) Curry and Mason (Amber Truss) Ragland, III; daughter, Tiffany Ragland; three brothers, Tony Curry, James (LaShaundra Mackroy) Curry and Randy (Stephanie Forman) Curry; two sisters, Sharon (Frank) Cowen and LaWanda Curry; grandchildren, Ja'maja Ragland, Shaniyha Ragland, Mason Truss, Christopher Jamerson and Detric's children; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
