Debra Spears
July 2, 1956 - May 3, 2022
On July 2, 1956, Debra Ann Chatman Spears was born to the union of James Chatman and Mary Robinson Chatman in Talladega, Alabama. Debra received Christ at a young age and united with Jacob's Chapel CME Church. As a youth, Debra was educated in the Talladega City School System and was a graduate of Talladega High School. Once her formal education was completed, Debra joined the workforce beginning her working career at Tyson Foods for several years and later working at Tip Top Poultry. After over 40 years of gainful employment, Debra retired and began to enjoy and live her best life. As Debra traveled through this walk of life, she became the proud mother of five loving children, Richard, Anthony, Karey, Eric and Tamika. When Debra wasn't cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren who were the joys of her life, you could find her enjoying life with family, cooking and last but not least... Watching her WESTERNS. If you could not watch the westerns with Debra, you could not watch TV with her. On Tuesday, May 3, 2022 Debra accepted her heavenly wings as she answered the call of her Master while surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Chatman, son, Richard Christian, brother, Travis Jerome Green and sister, LaDean Jones. Debra's love for her family and precious memories will forever be cherished by her companion of many years, Johnny Millender; three sons, Anthony Chatman, Karey Chatman and Eric Christian; daughter, Tamika Chatman; four brothers, Leon (Grace) McKenzie, Eldred Chatman, Telford Chatman, Jerold (Shantay) Chatman; five sisters, Sandra White, Wanda (Reuben) Bolden, Rochelle Curry, Renae Hawkins and LaDonna Barclay; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends.
