Mr. Carter Jackson, Jr., departed this earthly realm on May 19, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on July 12, 1944, in Talladega, Alabama, Mr. Jackson was a beloved son of Carter Jackson, Sr. and Eula Mae Stamps Jackson. An esteemed member of the community, he dedicated his life to his family, work, and the joys of nature. Mr. Carter embraced faith early, uniting with Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church, where he found strength and comfort throughout his life. His educational journey began in the Talladega County School System, where he attended R.R. Moton School. He embarked on a rewarding career as a Maintenance Tech in the foundry industry for seven years before finding his true calling in the textile industry at Avondale Mills, where he ultimately retired. A man of boundless joy and humility, Mr. Carter thrived in the simple pleasures of life. He could often be found sitting by the riverbanks, fishing rod in hand, dreaming of "the big one" while relishing the tranquility of nature. Hunting season brought him joy as he embraced the call of the woods, yet it was the laughter and togetherness of family and friends that warmed his heart the most. On Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026 surrounded by his beloved family, Mr. Carter transitioned from labor to eternal rest, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and devotion. He is predeceased by his cherished parents, Eula and Carter Jackson, Sr. and siblings, Katy, Mae, Louise, Jean, Jessie, Thelma, Doris, Earline, Nettie, and James Jackson. He is survived by five sons, Deon Jackson, Bryant Jackson, Nelson Cole, Defredrick Cole, and Anthony Thompson; daughters, Ciara Cole, Mary Nell "Pebbles" Nettles, Loukisha Cole, Tawanda Cole, and Shakena Cole; a brother, James Jackson; two sisters, Jennie Ruth Seals and Flora Dean Gray; special lifelong friends, Tommy, Nicole, and McKenzie Hallmark; friends, Kenneth (Layunite) Estell and John McKinney; along with twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. As we gather to honor this gentle soul, let us take a moment to reflect on the joy he brought to our lives and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts.
