    Carolyn Truss

    December 9, 1962 - October 14, 2021

Ms. Carolyn "Katt" Truss was born to the union of Benny Kendrick and Annie Lee Johnson Kendrick on December 9, 1962 in Talladega, Alabama. Carolyn accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined with Smith Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and the kitchen committee. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. Carolyn received her childhood education in the Talladega County School System and was a member of the 1981 graduating class of Munford High School. After receiving her formal education, Carolyn enlisted in the United States Army for nearly 3 years before receiving an honorable discharge. Upon returning home to her family, Carolyn began her working career as a seamstress at Sweet Orr Sewing Plant for 15 years and due to health issues, she later retired from Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind after being employed for 10 years. She was such an enthusiastic and fun-loving person, and it was demonstrated especially in the presence of her only daughter, LeKeatra and only grandchild, Trenton. She made sure her family was taken care of when it came to family gatherings and entertaining with her extravagant cooking and grilling ability. Playing cards and going to yard sales were her favorite hobbies. She was the definition of a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. In the late evening hours of Thursday, October 14, 2021, while under the care of Citizen's Baptist Medical Center, Carolyn serenely gained her heavenly wings and transitioned to her eternal home on high joining her parents, Benny and Annie Lee Kendrick, sister, Angelia D. Smoot, nephew, Wendell Kendrick, great-nephew, Mikal Kendrick, grandparents, Lee and Lucille Johnson and Willie and Addie B. Adamson, and a very special friend, Darryl Webster. Carolyn leaves to cherish and remember her fun-loving memories her husband, Larry Truss; loving daughter, LeKeatra (Tanisha) Pope of Talladega, Alabama; grandson, Trenton Truss of Talladega, Alabama; sister, Jacquelyn (William) Twymon of Talladega, Alabama; two brothers, Timothy (Deborah) Kendrick, Sr. of Talladega, Alabama and Clifton (Kimberly) Kendrick, Sr. of O'Fallon, Illinois; niece, Ashleigh Kendrick of O'Fallon, Illinois; three nephews; Michael (Brandi) Kendrick and Timothy Kendrick, Jr. of Talladega, Alabama and Clifton Kendrick, Jr. of O'Fallon, Illinois; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
