Bernard Turner

Mr. Bernard Turner, born on June 27, 1957, in Talladega, Alabama, to the parentage of Clarence Bradford and Mae Z. Turner Barckley, peacefully departed this life on March 26, 2026, while in the gentle care of NHC in Anniston, Alabama. Surrounding him was the warmth of his loving family, who cherished him deeply every day of his life. As a young man, Bernard embraced his faith and became a member of Sycamore Baptist Church, where his spirit of joy and laughter brought happiness to many. His educational journey took place within the halls of Lincoln High School in the Talladega County School System, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and dedication. Throughout his life, Bernard, affectionately known as "Tubby", wore many hats, from working in the foundry and poultry industry to mastering his final role as a delivery driver in the furniture retail industry. A beloved figure, he was affectionately known as "The Bill Cosby of Repairs," enlightening the lives of those around him with his humor and enthusiasm for dismantling fixing things. His laughter was contagious, and his capacity to bring joy to others will forever be remembered by family and friends alike. Now reunited with his beloved parents, Clarence Bradford and Mae Z. Barckley, he joins the loving embrace of his grandparents, Walter and Odell Turner and Robert and Ida Bradford, as well as his brothers, Fredrick Henderson and Benny Turner. We find comfort in knowing that Bernard's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Monika Heard, and two loving grandchildren, Tecauris Heard and Bruce Anderson. His legacy of love continues through his brothers, Clarence (Granitia) Turner, Ellis Barckley, and Devon Barckley; bonus brother, Lovell Groce; and treasured twin sister, Bernice Groce; loving sisters, Brenda Watkins, Janice (Danny) Groce, and Valerie (Hosea) Stockdale. He is also remembered by his God sister, Nola Orr Beavers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who have been touched by his kindness. Bernard Turner's life may have come to a close, but his spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold. Let us honor him by embracing the laughter he shared and the love he cultivated, for he will be deeply missed yet forever celebrated in our hearts.
