Aurelio Perez Smoot

Mr. Aurelio Perez Smoot, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, was born on December 7, 1972, in Talladega, Alabama, to Charles Williams and Catherine Smoot. He graced this world with his presence, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. From a young age, Aurelio embraced his faith under the guiding light of his beloved grandparents, Deacon Nathaniel Smoot and Flossie Smoot, at the Africa Missionary Baptist Church. It was within these walls that he fostered a lifelong relationship with his community, participating joyfully in youth activities and nurturing friendships that would last a lifetime. A 1992 graduate of Winterboro High School, Aurelio dedicated his career to the poultry and manufacturing industries, notably as a valued employee at Tyson Foods, New South Express (NSE), and Honda Manufacturing of Alabama. His work ethic and commitment were matched only by his boundless enthusiasm and sense of friendship, making an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to work alongside him. Known fondly to family and friends as "Perez," Aurelio was the life of the party, an entertainer at heart, who could light up a room with his humor and playful joking. He found joy in the serenity of fishing, the thrill of NASCAR racing, and the exhilarating rush of Florida State football games, where he devoted his undivided attention to the action on the field. His joyous spirit and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. On the evening of July 5, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Aurelio Perez Smoot transitioned from this earthly realm to eternal rest. He is now reunited with his son, Savon Smoot, and his father, Charles Williams, in a place of peace. Aurelio Perez Smoot, a beacon of joy and warmth, leaves behind a legacy of fun-loving memories etched in the hearts of many. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Brianna Smoot (Sheldon) Armstrong of Talladega, Alabama and Aiyana Smoot of Huntsville, Alabama; his cherished son, Xavier Smoot of Talladega, Alabama; and the mother of his children, Felicia Smoot. His loving mother, Catherine Smoot, remains a source of strength, as do his siblings: brother, Darryl (Yvonne) Smoot of Kileen, Texas and sisters, LaToya Smoot and Shaquella (Carlos) Wilson. Aurelio proudly embraced the role of grandfather to three adoring grandchildren, Say'Von Armstrong, Brelend Armstrong, and Zy'Aire Armstrong, who will always carry his spirit within them. In addition, he leaves behind a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will cherish and celebrate the vibrant life he led. As we remember Aurelio, let us carry forward his spirit of love and laughter, cherishing the moments spent with him and the impact he made on our lives. Though he has departed from our sight, he will forever reside in our hearts, his memory a gentle reminder of the joy of being present for one another in life's journey.
