Angela Sims

On December 2, 1963, the world was graced with the arrival of Angela Sims, a nurturing spirit whose light would touch the lives of many. Born to the union of Melvin Sims and Eddie Mae Taylor Sims in Talladega, Alabama, Angela's journey was one marked by love, strength, and an unwavering commitment to her family. At an early age, Angela embraced her faith, becoming a cherished member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. Her educational journey began in the Talladega City School System, culminating with her graduation from Talladega High School. She pursued her passion for learning further at Nunnelly State Technical College, where she earned an associate's degree in business administration. This foundation led her to serve as a dedicated cook and nutritionist for the Talladega County Jail, where her culinary talents shone brightly. Angela's heart swelled with pride as she became a mother, nurturing three beloved children who brought joy to her life. She was known for her quiet and gentle demeanor, always caring for others before herself. Her love for cooking was complemented by her skillful hands as a seamstress, crafting beautiful garments to share. In her leisure, Angela found joy in cooking shows, word puzzles, gardening, planting flowers, reading, and sewing. She also enjoyed the occasional thrill of hoping for a "Big Win" at the slots, but her greatest treasures were her grandchildren. Each moment spent with them added warmth to her heart and joy to her days. On March 22, 2026, Angela Sims completed her earthly journey surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home. She is now reunited with her beloved parents, Melvin and Eddie Mae Sims, and her cherished brothers, Michael and Ronald Stoner awaiting her family's reunion with open arms. Angela's legacy will forever live on through those she leaves behind: her devoted husband, Willie Taylor; her loving children, Arron Parez Sims, Sr., Chanetta Sims, and LaMelvin (Erica) Sims, Sr.; her sister, Janet Poole; and her adoring grandchildren, Cameron Whiteside, Caden Whiteside, Jaden Carrington, Arron Parez Sims, Jr., Arielle Tuck, Kendall Sims, LaMelvin Sims, Jr., Charity Whiteside, MelAsia Sims, and Austen Sims. She is also survived by a host of aunts, including Sharon Smoot, Patricia Parker, and Juanita Horn, her niece and nephew, Tereka Williams-Garrett and Michael Ragland, and a wealth of family and friends who will carry her memory close to their hearts. Though she may be gone from our sight, Angela Sims will remain forever in our hearts as a beacon of love, compassion, and unyielding strength.
